Project GLDJET

Many people in the Melbourne car scene would remember the gold over gold VL Calais turbo GLDJET.
This car has been pasted on to many owners over the years and has deteriorated.
I purchased this car end of 2006 start of 2007 as a rolling shell with the GLDJET plates.
It was in appalling condition with a butchered engine bay, melted wiring, broken/missing plastics.
I regret not have any pictures of the car before its full make over because its turned into quite the makeover.

Iíll start with the body and paint.
The car was completely stripped back doors off, glass out, trim out, plastics off, bare metal.
The engine bay was all cut and shut, all holes were filled, and anything that isnít needed was removed.

Once the shell was finished with paint it went in for minor rear end work.
The plan was to set up a 9 inch with adjustable upper and lower arms with a set of coil overís and sway bar. The plan was to setup a 15x8.5 convo pro with Mickey Thompson 275x60x15 street radials, but being under the car thinking to myself..... Iím cutting it up so maybe just set it up a for a 28x11.5.

The rear end consists of the following:
- Ford 9inch housing with cromoly tubular arms
- Strange centre with Strange full spool
- Moser 31 spline billet axels
- Koni double adjustable coil over shocks
- Eibach springs
- Cromoly 4 link
- Anti roll bar
- Diagonal link
- Wheelie bar brackets
- Parachute mounts
- Rear wing
- A set of 15x10 convo pro wheels
The car also has a full cromoly weld in cage with a BILLET Motorsport parachute lever bracket kit.

The interior:
-The car has a factory dash and centre console modified to house the pro bandit B&M shifter.
-The 2 front seats are the races choice RCI plastics on alloy rails.
-The back seat... speaks for itself
- 2 RCI 5 point harnesses
- Alloy door skins

Looks like a quality build up. That sheet metal work looks really good. Your external oil pump set up has come up a treat too. When are you expecting to hit the track?

Woggster 19-04-10 12:41

Thanks buddy Im also happy with how it looks, hopefully this will encourage more people to go down the path of using a external oil pump setup.
If all goes to plan we should be out testing late september.

The 26 head always gets people excited :)
The trim was done by Con at CKT timming. His work is unreal and i highly recommend him. I gave him my shell absolutly guttered inside and got it back complete in 2.5 weeks.

Thanks for the comments ATMO_BT1 :)
The turbocharger I'm using is a garrett GT45R. The same one I had for sale, reason I was selling it was because I had this idea of using twin GT35R's just for that extra  factor. I think the GT45R will still have the same effect.

An 8 second slip is what I'm after, a comfortable 8 second pass. My main goal is to be consistant and I think after sorting it all out it will go quick.
Im very confident the power supply wont be an issue its just making the combo work and the car consistant.

The trim doesn't look like besims. Take a good look at it before your write your comments. At a glance you'll see that they are different colour, pattern, & material. The front seats & back seat area also completely different, as well as the door trims. But i only spotted that at a glance.

I'll asume your being sarcastic about the cams because Mark Jacobson uses these cams in he's customers "street GTR's" which make 966hp @ all four. The R34 GTR at last years Sydney autosaloon made 1264hp @ all four.

I did expect some sort of criticism towards the build anyway.
