eBay Item Warning - Dash Cluster!

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1988-VL-HSV-G...QQcmdZViewItem

Now this type of ad annoys me. He goes on say that this item will add so much more value to your Walky because it has only 58000 kms on the odo.
What the hell does that mean? I hope he understands that it's illegal to swap an odo without the appropriate paperwork. That motor dealers have been stripped of their licences and sometimes sent to goal for winding back clocks! It's breaking the law - gaining benefit by deception!

This just highlights the extra vigilance one must take when looking at low kay Walkies. I would much rather a higher reading on the clock and know that the kays are genuine with log books\receipt history that this sort of bullsh!t.

Someone had previously posted that books don't matter as much. When this sort of crap goes on - my word they do!

Mate, it's pretty easy to verify. Guys with genuine cars will normally be able to identify it.

cheers,
Dave.

I thought it'd be pretty much common practice to shave a few kms off the clock.

Especially with our cars, brocks and the like. Anything under the magical 100,000km means more dollars in the back pocket doesn't it?

Like i have always said. the kays must match the condition. Check gear shifters, steering wheels, scuff plates, Trim wear, engine bay is a good tell tale sign,Plastics like rear vision mirrors,Glass, paint for resprayed panels,Grime build up inside throttle bodies. General condition of wiring under dash,All these things are no 100% tell tale but if they match the log books and the car in general you are heading in the right direction.
