Walki up for auction at Shannons

Interested to see what this goes for.

Walkinshaw for Auction

The report isn't too flattering either, has a few small faults.

Hahaha thats bugger all wrong with it.... Oil leaking onto extractors, prolly rocker cover gaskets, bearing in gearbox might be the biggest problem, reverse light shouldn't be too hard to fix, rear windows not working, could well have been the child switch in the front being on, new tyre & get the air con looked at.

Doesn't have the original stereo. Does have log books.

Not bad. Bit of TLC and will be a nice car. Looks fairly clean.

Has had a respray though.

Saying $54,000 - $64,000. Will be interesting to see what it does go for.

And as much as Shannons say that what auction prices go for doesn't effect insurance, it's their auction, they are putting that price estimate, so if it goes in that range or higher, then I can't see them having any choice but to insure cars that are similar for the same money, and ones that are better for more!

Sounds like a decent thing. People need to keep in mind that these cars are now almost 20 years old, so small things like what's been listed will be typical.

Should hit over $60K.

Cheers,
Dave.

Are the cars listed for auction at Shannons available now for inspection or are they only available a few days before the auction date?

I went to Shannons this afternoon and had a look at this car. Appears to be a nice car. As previously mentioned, the car doesnt have the original head unit fitted, however apparently it does come with the car. The car also doesnt have the full-size front lip and has had the front-end & bonnet resprayed according to the guy I spoke to at Shannons. Im not going to sit here and list every defect on the car, as there isnt many to list.
Good luck to the owner & to prospective buyers. A nice example.

Auction prices dont reflect the whole market, nor do they represent everyone elses car. They may act as a guide, but thats it. If a Walky sells for $70K at auction, then someone with one thats just as good, if not better, should be able to insure for $70K also HOWEVER its the people who think their car is worth that money when its not that are usually the ones complaining and believe me, there are lots of people like that....

i noted and acknowledged the bold but was just pointing out that there a alot of dreamers out there, and not every walky is worth $70K.

Nor is every GTHO Phase III Falcon worth $600K like the one that sold at a Shannons auction recently, no matter how much people argue that theirs is.

Had a look at this car yesterday, It's quite honest and in very good condition. The only thing I thought that looked out of place was the lower skirts front and sides being finished in that rough look, you know not a smooth finish.

Had my car assessed and they had no trouble in raising the agreed value to 55K without giving the car much of an inspection tbh.

Mine is rough from factory and my understanding is that any that are smooth were done outside the factory. Might be wrong.

Possibly, but as the car has had a respray, I'd say that they smoothed them out then.

Either way, it's not a huge issue, and wouldn't devalue the car anymore.

im 99 percent sure they were rough from factory..

i have seen both smooth and rough finishes and i prefer the rough by far.. smooth just looks wrong.

i think theyre rough for stone chipping reasons. the rough doesnt show the chips so obviously... i think

It was an option to have the smooth or rough

The rough finish is a stone guard. I have spoken to three people who bouight walkies new from dealers and none of them were given a option of rough or smooth. They got the rough finish.

Had never seen this finish until Saturday. I had viewed a few cars before mine and none of those were finished in this way either.
