Does it fit up to the GT35 any good? had thought about doing that to mine, but a bit worried about it pinging its tits off at higher RPM

It was very close to fitting without really trying, just mocked it up for a giggle. An extra injector spraying methanol triggered by the ecu using a boost x rpm table would work or a water methanol injection kit.

Bumper and trim paint took care of the cases, windex for the glass and a quick hit of silver enamel for the clips. Thanks for the comments, coming from a spray painter they are well recieved.

cheers...

engines in...

If your clips are rusted/missing you can get replacements cheap at rare spares

definitely no exterior mods. I had it resprayed before the engine work started. and its going to get new carpet and some trim tidied up after its tuned. and will be getting the standard calais wheels back on it.
To me a very clean tidy factory looking car (of this era or older) catches my eye and is more interesting/appealing then something with tempe wheels and a candy paint job. but each to there own in that regard.

^Totally agree. Its also a reflection of the owners personality. Ive seen so many young ****heads with late model commos, candy paint and bob jayne chromies. It makes me sad to be a part of Gen y.

sorry i didnt mean for my post to come across that way. I meant like are you going to do tasteful mods to it. (ie like simmons wheels/ droptank etc lol) but yeh na thats cool. Yeh i love really slick original cars too, genuine vl enthusiasts can appreciate real workmenship. But yeh I guess with certain builds go for certain styles.

all good man, wasnt having a shot at you. been asked that a couple of times. your right though certain builds follow certain paths. i had a set of fr18s lined up for it, but then changed my mind.

ok now where were we up to...

ahh engine is in...

---------- Post added 21-03-12 at 16:16 ----------

not a real good pic? ok this may show a bit more (apoligies for the grainy phone shots)

---------- Post added 21-03-12 at 19:40 ----------

the other side

---------- Post added 21-03-12 at 19:51 ----------

Getting the engine in and bolted up from where it sat on the stand to fitted took around 27 minutes, im really getting to like this single turbo RWD stuff. It was simply lowered into place, given a slight twist to align the dowels and with one careful push it slid back onto the input spline. The dull click sound of the sandwich plate being crushed between block and bellhousing was heard a little earlier than expected.

Now for the sh1t bit, getting all the plumbing done. I reckon the 'no holes' kits look a bit busted arse, especially the one that has the pipe going over the top of the distributor cap. So i decided to fabricate my own design which id be happy to bolt on to a car id own.

firstly the issue of the 35R low mounted and inner guard clearance. I thought of a few ways to do this before finally using a GTR rear turbo inlet elbow and flange plating the outlet. I was fairly well pleased with the result.

given the factory look restoration theme, the inlet pipe is copied to look right
