I have just got the R33 box and got nearly all my conversion components together. Are there any seals/gaskets on the R33 box that can be done before I put the box in?

I am going from N/A Auto to R33.

R33 gearbox
pedal box
manual gearbox mount
manual centre console
R33 quickshifter
VLT clutch master cylinder
R33 slave cylinder and clutch line
90 deg. speedo drive
MX7 Yoke
9.5inch flywheel
factory gearknob
manual floor plate.
Manual spigot

I still need the rubber boot for shifter and the clutch itself.
As the car is NA auto the starter should be OK.

Can anyone think what else I am missing?

I just bought a wrecked R33 GTST to get all the gear out of to do this conversion in mine, luckily i already have an MX7 so im halfway there!
Clutch will be jim berry full monty on a 9.5inch flywheel
Im gonna try adapt the VLT slave cylinder to fit on the R33 box because at the moment it (the clutch pedal) feels amazing and i dont want to lose that

Hows that dodge? the welds probably stronger than the tab

To me "do it right" if your using a R33 slave means rig up vaccum assistance to the VL master (like it has in he skylines) as everyone says the pedal is alot stiffer in a VL than a skyline. Thats the reason the skyline slaves have a smaller bore. Dont need to buy a new one anyway, theres one on the skyline i bought.

Or you can stick with the size slave thats designed for the VL system.

Cool I did not realise that the r33/34 had a smaller slave..

Is the VL one the same size as the nismo one maybe?

---------- Post added 13-03-12 at 19:38 ----------

What do I do with my VL NA auto tailshaft for this conversion? Completely replace it with a manual one?

Is an MF5 yoke the same as the MX7/R33 one?

GTT box

Hi , just bought an R34Gtt box, are they the same as an R34 box? I know the Gtt comes hicas 4ws, but heard others have put 33 boxes in Gtt's.

Will an RB25 flywheel be okay ?
Can I bolt the housing of my RB30n/a box on it to avoide having to convert to a pull type set up ?
is the sandwich plate of the RB30E box thus same?
Can I use the shifter out of my RB.30e box as this one didn't come with one?
If anyone can help me with this thanks a million :-)

Hey Guys,

Ive looked through as many threads as I can but cant get a complete answer - so any advice would be appreciated.
I'm putting an RB25 manual gearbox into my VL turbo. Ive removed the MX7 and want to use the 10" flywheel and HD clutch as they are new. Ive ground the bellhousing to suit and no probs. I need to know whether the turbo starter will work with the 10" turbo flywheel inside the RB25 box.
I want to avoid pulling the box out again after i fit it to change to 9.5" flywheel. I can see couple of people have used the 10" flywheel in an RB25 box, but havnt confirmed which starter they used.

Cheers for any help!

Only a MX7 starter motor will work with a MX7 (10 inch) fly wheel, so everyone that has retained the MX7 fly wheel would be using the MX7 starter motor

Thanks FLY-03L. Ive still got the MX7 starter, but it sits in a different location on the RB25 box, about 6mm further in because the bolts in the RB25 housing are to suit the starter for the 9.5 inch flywheel. Looks like it will be too close to ring gear on the 10 inch flywheel, and either bind or not be able to engage. I just dont wanna fit it all and have to take it all back out again!

G'day,

Just got an r33 box and wondering what slave to get.

It will most likely be an r33 one but not sure if i need push type or pull type

Pic below

Cheers,

Steve

---------- Post added 20-10-13 at 19:47 ----------

P.S...Next to the box is a fuel rail not a slave

---------- Post added 20-10-13 at 20:06 ----------

Im guessing buy the pics i just seen above I need a push type slave.

Can anyone confirm this?

Is this the VL reverse and neutral switch plug? if so which plug is which? and how do I adapt it into the switches on the box? As you can see in the pic, one is black and one is gold coloured.

I will figure it out by trial and error I suppose... but I was just wondering which was which? one is slightly longer than the other, while on the R33 box the reverse switch is closest to the front, so I'll try plug shorter into closer and closer into shorter first...

Plugs are also 90 degrees out, so everyone just put spades on and wired them up yeah?
