i was running an mx7 and ive had to get the tail-shaft lengthened. the yoke only went in 2 inches. not even close to good enough.

just completed the conversion (1 year later) and let me tell you it is worth every single last penny. it is a whole new car, it feels strong and solid. very tight and smooth, and no more crunches first to second. 1st and 2nd gear are now usefull that its a bit taller. i used to sometimes have to take off from 2nd.

i went to the wreckers to buy a r33 shifter and the guy said the r32 and r33 shifters are the same so i bought the r32 shifter he had but the little nylon bit on the end looks a bit small for the selector hole as there is a bit of play in the shifter. does a bigger ball need to be used? cheers

I've never seen a T5 behind an RB30, dont even know if there is a conversion kit avaliable?. Dont really know why you would want to either, not a great gearbox in my opinion. Both the MX7 and R33 box are a much better box than the T5.

for anyone that didnt get a r33 shifter with there box, you can use a r32 shifter but you will need to buy a r33 bush from nissan. They are only $12.45. The bush is the nlyon bit on the end of the shifter.

is there anything missing from this guys kit besides the sandwich plate and na starter ? im considering reselling the box or seeing if i can split the gearbox from the rest of it and focus on getting the r33 box assuming everything there is a straight swapover

cheers

Looks like its got most of the parts you would need, except the gearbox harness, and as you said, sandwich plate and starter.

if you are going to use an R33 box with that you would also need to change the tailshaft yoke to the MX7 type, get an R33 slave cylinder and an MX7 speedo drive.

9.5" button clutch kit with bearing also

okay here goes ill be the person to convert all these rumours into 1 big trumor haha converting from auto to a manual or changing over from the mf5/mx7 gearbox to a r33 gearbox u will need the following

R33 Manual Gearbox $1100
R33 Slave cylinder $ 50
R33 Flywheel $200 and make sure you get it machined $25
R33 Clutch kit which comes with thrust bearing, clutch, pressure plate and you should know the rest i bought the exceedy heavy duty brass button clucth kit with a cushoined center set me back $600bux from repco
The shifter is allright doesnt touch the handbrake but if ur dat fussed get a oxy and bend it up.
with the tailshaft the mf5 tailshaft wont fit because of the yoke and im not sure about the mx7 what i done was went to duggons in resevoir "very good blokes" i got a 1 piece tailshaft made what they done was asked me to get a hq tailshaft and they just replaced the yoke and it fits perfect to the diff and to the gearbox which cost me $125bux and thats balanced and sprayed and brand yoke and on a quick note it is a good aftermarket modifications and much more realiable than the old tailshaft because with the old 2 peice u have to worry about getting the unis replaced etc and so on but with the 1 peice its preety straight forward
speedo drive needs to be changed and can be sourced down from nissan
overall very strong box and can handel good power im currently maken about 240kw at the wheels and its been in there for about a good 6 months still doesnt miss a beat very very good box and worth the conversion
need any other info feel free 2 pm me
