ACA - your views on " street hoons "

Well guys Basically i saw the " hoon " segment on ACA and it disgusted me that fact they show us like we are wild hoons and we out to destroy the world

its stupid we spent countless hours and money trying to make our dreams come true then we have a un educated police officer explaning that having bonnet filter would slice someone on the street if they were hit ... i dont understand wow they pick on car lovers and insted of going to find criminals and drug lords etc etc ... yea crack down on those p-platers who do burnouts on there " welded vs " but how about the people who actually do because of the love of motorsport

My thoughts in dot form.
  • Yes it sucks, REAL enthusiasts get roped in with idiots
  • There are REAL idiots out there, half of them think they are innocent and hard done by
  • Do people realise that the police have more than 1 department? As in, the cop that fines you for speeding, isn't itching to get back to his desk to track down the drug king pin of the world?

As long as there are young guys breaking the law and not respecting police, sensationalist media shows like TT and ACA will always jump on board and go nuts with the story. It keeps the pensioners that watch the crap happy.

If there's anything to learn from it all, it's simple. Drive sensibly, time and a place for everything, respect the police. And the big one, you're not invincible, and you will eventually come unstuck, it's the idiots that don't learn from those mistakes that end up killing themselves and their friends.

Oh, and

sweet 'subaru', shows you how credible the information is

at the end of the day the country needs revenue to work, unfortunately car enthusiasts are a good source

we shouldn't feel targeted they do the same thing to speeding drivers, drink drivers etc

Simple solution is take it to the track and cruise around in your ****box 4 cylinder, the ironic part is i'm in a ****box that can cause the same damage to a human life, still reach a dangerous speed and if anything is more of a safety risk to the public and myself than a modified car and i haven't been pulled over in 3 years

The real answer: don't watch ACA or Today Tonight

why watch a show that you know will annoy you about a particular topic?

in fact why watch those type of shows at all?

-someone who got rich fast and wants to share their secret with you

these shows are tv's answer to talk back radio, both giving simplistic answers to often complex questions
they get ratings by creating issues to wind people up

There is a huge meeting/rally at Eastern Creek in February regarding all this matter. All the sanctioning bodies will be there to come to an agreement on whats fair and whats not etc etc.
Its called 2012 Motor Enthusiast Conference on Feb 26th at Eastern Creek Raceway.

Conference and proceedings start at 9am.

Every engine and chassis builder, etc etc and us should attend to show our support as car lovers not hoons and see if we can make some of the laws realistic.

Atleast someone is trying to have a go....

just had a good look at the vid. The cops are kind of shown as the bad guys in this one i think, as most of the drivers seem to be obeying the law and being 'picked' on. This I beleive is unfair and needs to be discussed and made known. However with new laws, people will just have to get their cars engineered more so they are able to get past this.

Building a car these days, you have to be so aware of the laws or you will end up having to pull your car apart again. Thats why theres more and more people turning to track and drag work and having a daily rather than trying to put them on the road. Laws restrict you from building a potentially really nice car. Hell ive pulled half the cage out of my car to try and get it engineered. Just has to be done really.

Correct haha.

Funny how the wind the story up and then the bloke revealing his secret gives the same bit of advice we hear all the time, stay determined, committed and focued, hard work pays off HAHA.

Playing on people insecurities is a sure way to grab their attention...

But seriously, i ****in HATE police! They are just time wasters. Can you guys actually start doing your jobs? There's countless time where myself and others i know have needed help and we get the simple "We'll look into it" or "piss off".

after viewing the video it's pretty obvious that people around Lapa have had enough of cars lapping and congregating there at night and the associated car and stereo noise and issues so they've complained to the police

cops have responded to try to discourage it and it's easy pickings for them

You obviously havent been on the other side of the fence have you?

And yes, there are idiots that ruin it for all the car enthusiasts that just want to go for a drive and relax with their mates, but can't the cops actually get the "hoons" instead of the innocent guys who are easier targets.

^^??????????

I've been a car enthusiast for years and never had issues with police while driving any of my cars

there's lots more in exactly the same situation too, maybe people need to look at whether what they are doing and the way they are doing it is 'smart' in all respects and also whether it impacts negatively on others which is the real test

Couldn't agree more. It's like ****ing reality tv - all just trash, dumbing down the population. People need to have some respect for the brains they were given.

Its unfortunate cos Lapa on a Sunday night was like every car show in Australia jammed into Lapa. It used to go off with the best cars ive ever seen.
People did ruin it with stupidity.
