out of interest if you were to put an rb25det in a vl,then hook the 25s g/box up how much would you expect to pay,fully fitted?

one is the neutral safety switch, and one is for the reverse lights. Not sure which one is which tho. When i was wiring mine up, I checked the gearbox into reverse, and just played around with the wires (there should only be two sets of two going under the car) until the reverse lights lit up. Too easy.

it is a fair bit of work, but if you have a bit of mechanical knowledge you can do it yourself. I have done my conversion with the help of a few mates and it was fairly straight forward. Before attempting this project the only thing I had ever done on my car was an oil change!
There are a lot of things to consider that will affect the final cost;are you going to run an aftermarket intercooler, what sort of computer etc. I could go on, but don't wanna clog up the thread. Feel free to send me a PM with any questions and I'll do my best to help ya out.

Cheers NZ GTS, got other question im not too sure on.

I got a Master Cylinder off ebay, iv put it in the car and connected the pedal to it, (i havent yet connected the clutch line yet) but i was wondering should the pedal still be down on the floor and stay there or should it come back up after pushing it down?

I push mine down ans it stay's there, will that change once if put fluid in and pump the pedal to build pressure up and then blead it?

Iv got a feeling that its no good as my skyline master cylinder works and when i push it in it comes stright back out, and thats not in a car either.
.

I think what's happening is that when you push the pedal down, it moves the pushrod and some of the rubber seals inside the master cylinder, and, because there is no fluid in it (no pressure from the clutch itself to push it back) it's just getting stuck.

once it's all put together and got fluid in it and bled up properly it should be fine. have you got the return spring hooked up to the pedal as well?

I have a heavy duty one from Hardy Spicer, can't tell you too much, it came with the diff... It was originally set up for an MX7 though, slots straight into the R34 box.

I would use a MF5 tailshaft with a Hardy Spicer yoke for a basic setup.

MF5 tailshaft with R33/MX7 yoke from hardy spicer is the easiest option, MX7 tailshafts are hard to come by.

Hey, ok i have just bought a rb25det engine and box!
I needed the yoke, so they got me the whole tailshaft! it says R34 on it, didn't see this until later, question, can i use the whole r34 tailshaft in the vl, will it fit/boltup! or do i just get the yoke and put it on the mf5 shaft?
The r34 tailshaft is a "beefy" piece, a lot bigger than the vl one! but it doesn't have the centre support to attach to the under side of car!
Thanks!
Also do i need to swap over the engine to box supports with the vl ones(shorter)
as the r33 ones are bigger and it's just touching the steering rack!
Thanks heaps!

I have picked up a RB25DET 5speed to use as part of my Auto->Manual conversion. So i have no exsisting manual parts.
Qu
1-Will the auto NA sandwich plate work, or so i need a manual one?

2-I don't have a VL flywheel, can i just use a aftermarket skyline clutch complete with flywheel?

Thanks for any help.

for anyone that wants to know;

If your converting from auto to an R33 5 speed (or even manual to R33), heres some info for wiring the neutral & reverse switchs.

Cant remember about the MX7, but the MF5 the switches are in different positions than the R33 box. Because they were different i wanted to make sure i had them right.

On the R33 Box;

The plug closest to the Bell Housing is the Reverse Switch, wire this to the Pink & Green wires of Plug E038-8. (see pic below)

The plug closest to the rear of the box is the Neutral Switch, wire this to the Grey and Black/White wires of Plug E038-8. (see pic below)

*NOTE* the connectors in the pic usually live in the engine bay, on the firewall next to the brake booster.

Hopefully this helps a few people out! If anyone needs any wiring help feel free to PM me.
