VY RB30 Turbo

Hey all, thought i would post up my build at the moment.

Thought i would do something a bit different and put my RB30 Turbo motor into a VY, until i finish doing up my vl shell.

This car started off with a burnt engine bay, being a VY S Pac, What will have in it when finished, will be an RB30 Turbo Engine, Fully rebuilt, balanced, fire ringed, spool rods, wiesco pistons, copper head gasket, Maatouks racing head, MX7 gear box, S7475 Borg Warner Turbo on Split Pulse manifold, 4" stainless Exhaust, 2 38mm waste gates, Running 2 044 fuel pumps with -8 teflon Braided Fuel Hose through 2200 Bosch injectors.

The Car Has just came back from FATZ Fabrication in Rockhampton who did an awesome job making up all the engine mounts. Sits in there perfectly, alot more room then the VL.

Just received my Head from Maatouks Racing with all there good gear, so thats down at the engine builders.

Very interested to see how this goes in a manual i never got the chance to try it, first gear will be pretty useless IMO with the mx7 (it's very short) if you get some spare cash id look at upgrading to a r33 box(bolt striaght in won't need any mods for the change over) as they have ideal gear ratios for a rb30 with 3.45's, also try are alot nicer to shift at high rpm. Looking forward to getting some numbers once it's tuned how long off do you think?

This looks like its going to be a sweet project, putting a decent motor into a holden (V8s aside). Keen for more update mates

Yes its mounted like that for clearance issues on drivers side.

Haha RATROD VY, i like it... and i hope it doesn't look like that again

Yer first gear is normally not as fun as 2nd and 3rd around the street thats for sure. I'll see how this gear box goes first and go from there with that.
If it all stays to plan and no real dramas happen then hopefully in about 3 months it should be getting tuned.

Thanks, you gotta love the old RB30's they love making power

As for the body, havn't made up my mind fully, vz ss fluted guards havn't decide what kit to go, painting it a custom purple pearl.

Exhaust plans have now changed, going 4" dump into twin 3" exhaust out each side.

Took out the fuel tank last night and now have decided to cut and spare wheel well and raise it up so its not as deep. Making a custom fuel tank up to sit under spare wheel well now.
