Head Unit Wiring... Its all here...

While i had my Workshop manual out, i thought i would post these for anyone wanting to put in an aftermarket stereo..

Orange: This is the power wire, it leads to Fuse Number 8..
Pink: For the Power antenna, not on all models, goes to Power Antenna Module
Black/White Tracer: Earth, leads to an earth point
Yellow: Accessories, so the radio turns on when the car duz.
Tan: L H F Positive
Light Green: R H F Positive
Brown: L H R Positive
Dark Blue: R H R Positive
Light Blue: all speaker Negative
Grey: Leads to Cigarette Lighter and Climate Control Switch

To hook up a CD player, this is a guide for which wires to hook up... (may not be the same for all CD players)
Original Wiring - CD player wiring
Black/White - Black
Orange - Yellow
Yellow - Red
Light Blue - black (or all 4 speaker negatives, white, green, grey, violet all with black tracers)
Tan - White
Light Green - Grey
Brown - Green
Dark Blue - Violet
Pink (if appic) - Blue/White

Hey dude thanx for this. coulda helped me heapz if i knew bout it earlier. im just in the process of puttin in a new system and need to know a bit of info on the wirin.

iv found on my new system that i put original orange to yellow in new; original yellow to red in new; and pink in original (that i used to think was illumination) into orange with white stripe (illumination wire) in new. and it all works, lights up etc.

it all works but with no power antena. cause the power antena on the new tuner states 'ANT REM MAX 0.1A i dont wannablow it or nething by trying nething to risky. ops:
newayz my question is:
1) what original wire does the power antena on the new tuner go to?
2) what original wire does the illumination on the new tuner go to?
3) WTF is the point of the grey one to a new tuner??!

thanks for ne info by neone with this

Watch this one, with some head units they might have the speaker outputs as bridged which means the speaker needs its own negative, not a common negative. In this case you will have to rewire the dash speakers so they have their own ground otherwise if you arent using those just leave it out and rewire new speakers from doors or wherever all the way.....

if your going to run 4 decent speakers off a deck your best off running brand new wires for all 4 speakers, running a dedicated (fused) power wire to the batery and running a new earth from the deck to the stearing column. the only wires off the factory loom you should use is the ilumination wire, the accesories wire, the power antena wire. this might seam overkill but its not hard to do and if you do it you will never have problems with it.

anywhere metal mate, most head units earth through them selves, so if you have it bolted in with metal brackets and screws i wouldnt even bother with the earth wire

I wired mine exactly as this guide says, soldered the joints and taped up with electrical tape. I have a grey wire left on the factory plug and a blue wire with white tracer left on the sony plug. When i turn the music up above a wisper is distorts badly. System has 4 speakers 6" Xplodes in the back and 4" Xplodes in the front powered by the head deck. Any ideas?
