HTURBO, I take it you do alot of bush riding? I too prefer a 4 stroke over a 2 stroke in those wet, slow turn type of terrain. It just makes riding easier yet more enjoyable at the same time.

One thing I don't agree with however, is how you continually bag out 2 strokes, saying they're rubbish and good for nothing. Instead of saying your a tool which is what most people are thinking. They were just as successful before 4 stroke came about and are still somewhat still going strong. I don't see why you can't comprehend that a 2 stroke motorbike is just as good as a 4 stroke.

As I said previously both style of engine have they're pro's n con's but it all come's down to rider choice. It's fine that you prefer a 4 stroke over a 2 stroke no matter what but to insult 2 strokes the way you have is a no-no in my book.

Why do you dislike them so much?

just because your **** on a 2 stroke and dont know how to ride one (not saying im any good on one either!) it doesnt mean that 2 strokes are **** all together!

I love both types.

My '10 yz450 is so sweeeeeeet though. Most likely heading out to wombat this weekend again with a few of the fella's and hopefully one of us will get a camera and take a few happy snaps.

Coming from a man in Melbourne lol.
Good on ya, How long have you been riding bikes?
The reason, I've owned two strokes & are sh!t on hill climbs. There just sh!t all together in the bush where I'm from. I'm more enjoying riding now on a 4 stroke than when I was on a 2-stroke.
Come up to a mud hole. In a 2 stroke it's like reving it's tits off one minute & then stall & bogged down the next. On the other hand when your on a 4 banger, it's power all the way through. Also I'm not talking about your standard XR either.

Well that's fair enough. Not everyone on the forum does just hill climbs so maybe you should stop having a dig at everyone because they love the two strokes. Be more open minded dude.

I just did the top end on my two stroke, Started at 8.30, had dinner in between and just put it through the first heat cycle then.

See If I can get another 100 hours out of it before pulling it down again.

Is it a simple yet time consuming job? Or just a c*nt of a thing to do all together?

I wonder how things will go down when it comes to doing mine and if it will be a pain in the arse with all the EFI mumbo jumbo.

I know. I just get right on the defensive once some says two-strokes are better for the bush.
It's all good. Having a can or two now.
Suddenly
I'm over it.

I wouldn't say its time consuming or hard at all. So many guides & even videos on the internet you can look at.

I had mine in bits already, brought a new piston after checking the bore & cleaned up all the cylinder, head & crankcase/gearbox with aluminum cleaner to make it look good as new. You don't need any special tools besides some feeler gauges to check your ring gaps & if you haven't rebuilt it before probably get the bore checked around the ports so you don't buy the wrong size piston say if it had a sleeve put in or something similar.

HTURBO maybe if you got on a two smoke enduro bike thats been setup for the bush you might have a bit more fun, you really have to ride the MX bikes hard probably a bit much for a tractor rider like yourself.

This thread is nothing but insults. How fckin immature. I wouldn't even touch a 2 smoke if someone payed me. Not after owning a CRF450R.

I think your the one that needs to grow up by reading some of those posts. just give it up i cant believe you have dragged this on for this long, you really have made your self look like a dcik head. and id rather a 4 stroke to but thats just my personal choice i dont go around saying 2 smokes are gay and lame and so on, and then when someone reacts you abuse them and then tell them to grow up....

Boys boys boys, 4 stroke will allways dominate the bush & track. Just accept it, 2 strokes will be the thing of the past..

You where saying.
When and where did I say that?? I think someone needs to take their own advice.

Even then, I have a 4 stroke and a 2 stroke in my backyard. I don't doubt that one day 2 strokes will be phased out and 4 strokes will be the only one being made but so what? Suddenly that makes them the best because they have a linear power delivery? With that attitude everyone on the forum is stupid for having 10 second VLs cos a V8 would have such a smoother power curve and be able to get the traction down easier, how silly of us! Can't believe you're saying power delivery matters the most when you're on a VL Turbo forum.

after having a cr 250 and a crf 450, as great as the crf was on hill climbs i much rather the power of the 2 stroke 250 even riding in the bush. all comes down to rider prefrence i guess tho.

---------- Post added 16-09-10 at 19:34 ----------

wouldn't mind trying out a crf450x or a wrf450 though.

I train and ride with Ben townley when he comes home from the states over xmas and it makes no difference weather he's on a 2 stroke or 4 he's fast on both it really does come down to what rider you are skill level, How big you are etc etc .....

I was going to buy the CRF450x, but things like power to weight ratio & electric start wasn't for me.
If you want a low maintenance bike then go the CRF450x but if you want high reving & sh!t loads of power go the CRF450R.

ive got a 08 crf450x and in no way is it low maintenance, its exactly the same as R and i really dont think there is much difference in power to be honest with you. i can keep up with my mate on his yz450f 09 and he is about 30kg lighter than me and a better rider than me.

I dont know where your getting the low maintenance bit from
