That sounds like a better way to do it.

It wouldn't be possible to use a normal spray gun would it? I would be thinking that the sealer is to thick but I'm not sure.

Thanks again ill look into using a spray gun instead of application by hand.

Wrong type of gun it's an air fed caulking gun designed to create uniform application (not stop starting the trigger to get product out) work quip do one it's under $50 and would be fine for your job. It's part number is 19845

this thread is 2 years old ha , i will be doing my struts next weekend and will just be bare metalling around where the seam is, few welds then i recommend a few very light layers of fibreglass just smoothed in with your finger. dont use bog i have seen it used in some friends hiluxs and skylines and they have cracked badly. its not so much hard driving that flexes the chassis but more the going up driveways or over speedbumps on an angle where it can slightly twist. ill try and get some photos for you if i get finished 86_vlbt

I used a minimal amount of fibreglass on mine, car hasn't been on the road yet, but has been on trailers and pushed around a little bit without any signs of cracking so far

I think it comes down to how you do it. I used a little bit of bog on top of some welds when i did mine and haven't had any problems. Few mates have as well.

Smoothing the bay help

Hey guys, i started this thread ages ago but my couldn't get my account back.

I ended up putting seam sealer there and smoothing it out with my fingers as best as possible but its a lot harder than it sounds.

I found that it made my life a lot easier to apply the seam sealer, shape it roughly, let it set of and go back to it later with some wax grease remover to soften it up a bit and just do the same and use your finger to smooth it off, this method may take abit more time but will make it a lot easier to shape and smoothen properly as its not so soft and gooey.

A good pro to using seam sealer is that its used from factory so there shouldn't be any issues with roadworthy's and its very unlikely that it will crack

Ive had my vl on the road now for about two months and there is no sign of cracks or anything.

I hope this helped! Will be happy to send pics to anyone that is interested.
