what do ya's think it'll cost?

hey guys and gals,
ive recently been offered an immaculate red Vl calais for $2k, only catch is that the engine is shot.
what i want to do is sell my current calais for around 5k maybe a bit less and turn the calais with the shot engine into a calais turbo.
what do you guys recon it would cost me to take the car to a machanic and say depending on how fcuked the engine is rebuild it into a rb30et?
also i am yet to find out what exactly is wrong with the engine yet.
cheers

hehe, was worth a try. let us know how u go with that calais.
to do a full conversion ud be lookin at bout 2 g for a motor and then fitting on top. then u got ya diff and gearbox. probly bout 5-7 g all up to do a complete conversion

so i would have to get the engine for them to fit then? does anyone know a place that could build me one? or would it be too hard as they need to source an exhaust manifold, turbo etc

thanks

yep i think u will struggle to get one built unless u source all the parts. no mechanic is gonna go hunting round for a manifold, turbo, ecu, injectors etc etc.
ud need to supply everything or a complete motor. if u were to pay them to supply and find everything u'd pay a fortune.

yeah i never thought of that aye...
getting the engine fitted wouldnt be much of a problem cuz as i said before my brother-in-law has an engine crane and we could do it ourselves in a day or two.
only thing is i dont really want to sell my car, buy it then wait 2 months till a complete engine comes around.
