I agree with the others guys.

What a stupid comparison.

I love VLs and all, but they're not the fastest or well built cars on the road.

TRYHRD and this ute, are both excellent pieces of Automotive machinery and deserve alot more respect.

In all honesty and no offence to anyone, VLTs are **** at the track. Sure they may run as quick as 8s, but they sit spooling for 5+ seconds, so doesnt that theoretically make it a 13sec car . Ive yet to see a VLT run heads up with another car, its a joke. I cant understand why they dont use nitrous to spool the **** up and leave on the green, its not that hard. The whole point of drag racing, is just that, racing another car, its not a time trial

As far as "dyno monsters" not being able to race and cant prove themselves like VLs on the track, i bet you these "dyno queens" wont be spooling the **** up for over 5secs

And yea, those turbos would look nice in my engine bay

in my words put that engine in a vl calais shell and you will have the fastest vl in the land, ie make it a drag car that is.
who cares about figures on a dyno, they wow people who probably drive volvos

also that is a v8, not a straight six, so the ability to get more air in and out is why they dont compete with the rb30et

Technically, the timer doesn't start, until the cars go over the line. So they could sit there for about 10 minutes and still pull a 9 second pass.

I've seen plenty of VLTs, destroy V8s and other cars, down the strip.

Also it's just another way, of giving the other cars a head start.

Geez, i never knew the time didnt start till they go over the line, thanks for that

It seems you didnt get my point......

Yes they may "destroy" other cars with the times they run, but in heads up racing, VLTs are ***n ****. By the time they have spooled up, the other car is already halfway down the track. In some cases, the other car has almost finished its run by the time the VLT has spooled.

And maybe thats the reason why there arent many tough VLTs in proper competitions, because they will be knocked out in the first round due to the bloody spooling time

Again, it called "DRAG RACING" not "TIME TRIAL"

LOL members on here are biased. We're talking about big, fast drag type cars. Spool time is rediculous with only 3L, face it.

Thats right, we are talking about heads up racing between two drag cars, not between a 13sec VY SS and a 9sec VLT.

A race between a 9sec rotor and a 9sec VLT, the rotor will win everytime. Why? Because the VLT will be sitting there spooling the bloody thing up while the rotor would already be half track.

Again, i cant understand why all these VLT drag cars dont use nitrous to spool the bloody things up. The guys running auto Supras in the U.S use it to great effect, cant understand why they dont do it here.

i guess they think its "cool" to wait a minute for the turbo to spool then jet off, the time is still ran sure, but get them into bracket racing and they'll lose to a camira
what do u expect with a puny 3 litres of displacement, hence this section was made so we can be bias

9 second VLT head to head with a 9 Second Nitrous assisted SBC, heads up racing, the SBC would romp it!

I agree i find it very dissapointing to watch big power turbo cars still stalling it up for a few seconds after the green.... it just doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the sport, but hey i guess the idea is the run the quickest time between point A and B and that's the best way to do it.

Your right Jack, but it's not heads up racing.. as ELA-RE said, it's more of a Time Trial type setup lol.

Yea you're right, if it is just for a time slip then it is the best way. What im wanting to see though are VLTs to be COMPETITIVE against other top cars. To see them compete in Group 1 events like Super Sedan or at events like Jamboree, instead of sticking to "Time Trials" oops i mean "weekly street meets"
