This is Jarrod's VL Calais Turbo, known as CDUCME. It's a 1988 series 2 VL which has been painted in purple pearl. The car was painted in that colour when it was bought in 1999, and from there Jarrod has spent a bit of money getting it upto scratch and into perfect working order. Along the way, the auto gearbox was replaced with Yarra Valley Auto's getting the nod for the job, with a large oil cooler added to stop the chances of another meltdown. The standard stall convertor is still in use. The car was then taken to JPC for a dyno and tune, where the guys worked their magic into the car. The ECU was changed for a turbo computer after it was found that the computer in the car at the time was a non-turbo unit. The boost was raised to 10psi which is controllable via an in-cabin hi-low switch, and the tailshaft was replaced with a beefed up one piece unit. An oil/air seperator has also been installed.

The stock calais rims were then replaced with a set of rather nice looking genuine 17" BBS RK rims, which were imported from Germany. New rear lights were installed, as everyone knows the original lights tend to fade after 15 years time, and can look pretty sad. A set of custom plates "CDUCME" were also screwed up.

Work is still continuing on the VL, and Jarrod tell's me that in the next few months, the following modifications are likely to occur. A large front mount is on the list, as is getting the turbo hi flowed and the boost raised to 15psi. He is also keen to change the interior to something a bit more special, and to change the diff ratio to something that will give some more acceleration. A big thanks the Mick and the gang at The Upholstery Shed in Warrnambool for a full interior retrim and also special thanks to Richard Conlan Panel Repairs - Port Fairy for paintwork to the car and the edition of the side indicators.
