I can't believe all the negative comments on all the forums about these amazing horsepower figures these guys ran on the weekend!

Why do you need that much power?, . .but it was on Methanol! . .that's not a street car. . .yeah but what does it run down the quarter? Blah blah blah.

FFS!! If it wasn't for people like this pushing the boundaries it would be a boring world with bloody boring car shows!

This thing would scare the willies off me - those air intakes like a pair

too, you would want pretty tight jeans walking any where near the front of the
thing even when its idling

So we know the type/model of the troubles er turbos ?

The reason the WB didnt win was because it only made 1 run in the finals before it blew the back of the auto and tailshaft apart at 1940rwhp or whatever. You need to run twice for it to count. So yeah even though he had the most HP he is not the HP hero.

That car still used factory block and was only 372 cubes, compared to the LS1s which are 400+ cubes, aftermarket blocks etc. On pump fuel, these cars couldn't come close to what Brett Waine and the guys at SAS achieved with a holden.

Just shows how good the holden engine is.

And as far as fuel is concerned, when looking at the fuel rating specifically for racing, MON is the rating to go for, as it is more precise, RON gives a higher number, which makes it inaccurate.

That's why VP Racing fuel recommend to follow the MON rating of fuel, as it is more precise.....

Quote:
VP uses MON because this test method more accurately simulates racing conditions. The conditions under which fuels are tested using the RON method are not as demanding, thus the number is normally higher than the MON rating. This leads many other fuel companies to rate their fuels using the RON in an effort to make them appear more resistant to detonation. Don't be fooled by high RON numbers or an average -- MONs are the most relevant ratings for a racing application. Be aware, however, the ability of fuel to resist detonation is a function of more than just octane.
In saying that, the fuel supposedly run in a couple of cars, Sunoco Max Nos is rated at 113MON, whereas VP C16 is 117MON. Imagine if they used C16, would be able to crank more boost, and more power

Or you can go for the VP NO2, which has 120MON.....now that's some decent octane!

craigs car only got finished days before it left for summernats we put the trim into it on the 27th and the motor was "still" not ready the car only got a couple of hours on the dyno for tuning and made 1400hp they were still tuning it at the nats theres more to come as it can take 50psi we think the clutch was sliping and the final runs and its running a t56 there is also an auto that is for the strip

when the car first got finished a couple of years ago craig was driving it around useing a tank a day and did like 1000km in a couple of weeks the gold car and the commodore ute are **** cause the use dry ice and cost $600 every time its on the dyno

craigs car is fully contained in the car unlike alot of the others

i was carrying the fuel container and it had Sunoco on the front cant remember what brand il find out

lsx is what its running now

hay blu747-yes the lsx block is the stuff-

but it has some certain desgin issues-(some areas of the webbing and cap design and also some machining issue's)

so don't run out and get one just yet-

wait till june/july has a new batch of lsx blocks will be getting made by a new company for gm-

gm last month stop production because the old casting company was not doing it's job good enough and gm found a new block maker-

i think the ute runs an lsx and the gold vx runs a 400ci chev
craig has had a lot of problems with the crank fitting and other part being wrong but i also think there was a conflict of interest with craigs car going to summernats as 2 engines were to be built and should have been built by mid year, he was never aware of the ute being built either, craig doesnt get all his **** put together at hpf anymore they only do the tune and engine build

we got in trouble when craig did a skid as we were about to load up the truck and the security yelled at him and ripped 1 of his stickers off and we gave him heaps next minute 10 security came down wanting the other sticker left on the car and all our arm bands and i told them to get ****ed i didnt do the skid they took craigs arm band and asked us to leave they were real ****s about it too
