Ok I plan on attempting this soon, mind you I'm a roof tiler not a mechanic..

My knowledge is minimal, you reckon just give it a crack myself or pay a mechanic. I'd rather do it myself (save money and learn something new) but if it's too difficult I dont wanna waste my time,

Advice any one?

I just brought a VL Calais NA 6 and want to put my built high comp 304 from my vr Calais in it... But carby, so wiring isn't won't come into play
Iv gotten hold of a VN v8 kframe but my question is does anyone know if my pacemakers (PH 5000V - suit variable ratio rack in my vr) will fit with the NA 6 rack or the VN for that matter? Trying to make this conversion as cheap as possible cause when I built the VR I ran way over my "budget" lol

Yes they do , just make sure you get a rack with the splined input shaft for the pinion and not the square one.

just finished my conversion cranks over fine, idles fine but doesnt drive like it did when it was in its donor car. however it had a dodgy v6 manual setup in the donor car. so i whipped that out and chucked in a th700 tranny from a vr. when i put the foot down i get high revs and it moves like a snail. will i need to change my ecu to auto?? any ideas??

Have a VR SS auto donor car for this conversion. Have found the auto is screwed, so am looking at a T5 to replace.

Can I still use the auto ecu, wiring loom, starter etc? I know I'll need a manual pedal box. Is there anthing else I will need?

Also, can I use the front half of a T5 tailshaft with the rear half of a VL 6cyl one?

Cheers for the help guys.

ive done the conversion using a th700, but it was stuffed. now i have put a getrag 5 speed in and now its ready to start, can somebody tell me which wires needed to be bridged on the auto loom to get it started again. i think it has something to do with the nutural starter

i have a few questions 2, i have a VL exec, was 3L, that i an half way through putting a worked VN 5L an T56 gearbox, has any1 done this conversion before? does any1 know if the shifter lines up with the hole on the floor or do i need an aftermarket shifter?
an what tail shaft do i use on do i get 1 custom made?
what is the easiest way to fit a twin 2.5in exhaust through? (i am considering running straight gas, therefore dont need much of a petrol tank an was thinking or getting it chopped down an running exhaust down each side) will an exhaust fit down the drivers side with decent ground clearance as it doesnt have the lump in the floor under the front seat like the passenger side does.

use the front section that suits the t56 and use a vl rear section to complete the tailshaft

no im usin standard vl manual pedal box, they are both hydraulic, im thinking i might have to upgrade to bugger master cylinder? and i duno if mix matching tailshafts will work as the have different centre bearings and the difference in lengths of the car, and also dont think it would handle the power i am hopein to put out, plannin on around 450 - 500hp atfw

why wont the tail shaft work like above said?most people who do the conversion use the donor front half with the vl rear half.
