JUDGE cruse 2004

Gday all...Well as the title says there is going to be another "Judge" memorial cruise this year to pay tribute to Todd and all his achievements in our Motorsport culture..

We have set the date for February 29th 2004.

The meet point at this stage will be the "Stock Yards" in Dandenong and we will head out from there...Maps will be organised this week and i will post the final details when they become available.

There will be quite a number of big names in attendance and i hope we can bring a good number of Calais Turbo members along for the ride also.
We will also have trophies and prizes for cars on the day..

Stay tuned for more details!!!

Cheers

Justin

Sorry to announce this peoples at such a late date but unfortunately the Judge Cruise has been postponed and will not go ahead this Sunday.

We will be looking to run the cruise later in March and hopefully get a larger attendance for the day.

If people still want to go for a cruise on Sunday just to get out and about please let me know and we can do a little mini-cruse meet instead!!

Sorry for the bad news..

Cheers.

Justin.

VS Spac Ute twin turbo V8!?!? also had a little yellow car.. i cant remember what it was though from memory.. something like Giocattolo I think? JUDGE was the pioneer for powerful street cars, having himself a twin turbo V8 ute.. thing was a beast.. featured in a number of magazines, zoom, street machine etc etc.. i think he managed 800hp? That was around yr 2000 im pretty sure, which was heaps back then. Then he swapped for a Giocattolo (dunno why lol) and made 850 rwhp back at summernats 14. Anyway.. point is, IMHO, he set a new benchmark for horespower heroes and his record stood for a fairly lengthy time, even after his unfortunate accident, until the likes of Eddie Tassone and that other dude.. cant remember his name either..

A site dedicated to him can be found here http://www.twinturbov8.com/index.html for all things JUDGE.

might have to come along to this.

now everyone should know/remember who he is :P

Cheers

yeah.. hit a concrete barrier/wall at eastern creek, infront of the whole crowd.

Heres a small article about the accident. (From this website)
http://www.users.bigpond.com/RDPRACI...kes/wilkes.htm
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ONE of the nation's leading street racers died after his high-powered car slammed into a concrete wall and exploded in a fireball at Sydney's Eastern Creek raceway today.

Todd Wilkes, known to drag racing fans as "Judge", died of multiple injuries and severe burns when his limited edition Giocattolo crashed through barriers, became airborne and hit a wall before bursting into flames, police and witnesses said.

Police later suspended all operations at Eastern Creek following the crash, which took place during a speed demonstration.

Horrified onlookers saw Mr Wilkes, 29, of the Brisbane suburb of Windsor, appear to brake but then lose control of his V8-powered vehicle, one of only 15 ever made.

It's believed he had been travelling more than 200kph before the crash.

"He had multiple traumatic injuries and burns and he was in cardiac arrest at the scene," an ambulance spokeswoman said.

"He was being artificially kept alive en route to hospital."

Mr Wilkes was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at Blacktown Hospital, police confirmed.

Blacktown duty officer Inspector Greg Rehn said Mr Wilkes had been participating in a speed trial demonstration at a scheduled meeting of the Australian Racing Drivers Club.

"He has braked heavily after his speed trial over a measured distance and crashed through a barricade and into a concrete wall," he told AAP.

"As a result of this accident, I've suspended all operations at the raceway until further notice."

Insp Rehn declined to comment on the safety measures in place at the raceway and said they would be a matter for the coroner.

"I've spoken to the general manager of Eastern Creek, the circuit operations manager and the race operations manager and informed them that, as a result of this incident, all race operations at Eastern Creek have been suspended," he said.

"We'll be looking at all the circumstances in relation to the accident."

It was the first time Insp Rehn had taken such a measure and he said it was until the circumstances and cause of the crash could be fully investigated.

Eastern Creek Raceway today played host to an Auto-Salon event which was offering $20,000 in prize money across eight driving disciplines.

Auto-Salons are a series of shows featuring late model high tech cars held in five major cities across Australia, with attendance figures as high as 45,000 per show over two days.

Police were today taking statements from members of the crowd who witnessed the fatal crash.

Highway patrol officers who were watching the demonstration were also assisting police with their inquiries.

Mr Wilkes, a computer specialist, recently won a "Horsepower Heroes" award at the recent Summernats car show in Canberra

cheers

Sounds like Todd was a much loved bloke, and a pioneer for the drag racing sport...
