Fishing local spots/tips....

Anyone got good spots to fish off the bank/pier around Melbourne?

Want somewhere were im not going to waste 12 hours waiting for a bite.

If i drag the boat out i can just go westernport, or port phillip but I like fishing off the bank sometimes...[COLOR="Silver"]

What about the warmies on the yarra river just there in Newport, just under the Westgate Bridge, where the warm water comes from the cooling towers of the Newport power station. Im not much of a fisherman but I've been there once and mates caught fish. When there is smoke coming from the chimmney of the power station then they are pumping out hot water, you'll see the water levels change when they are sucking in water then pumping it out.

I've been warned not to consume fish from the warmies, apparently they aren't the healthiest fish and also they apparently feed off the dead bodies in the water.

Try Black Rock, not a bad fishing spot!

ye i have to agree MxPx VL, Under the west gate this time of year is great, but if by chance you have a sunny weekend my best bet is head off to StLeonards hire a boat its like 120 for the day and just make sure you have enough bait.

Went out on the weekend with a few mates, caught 40 King George just off near Swan Bay in between Swan Bay and St Leonards and all were caught on pippies using the black magic rigs in about 10metres of water.

Going out this weekend to do some fresh water fishing before some of the seasons close.
