I have my walky insured for more than $70k with shannons now. I know my mate in sydney has his insured for about the same as mine (his has under 20,000kms). We didn't have to take it in either.

So yeah I guess it does depend on who you speak to.

Mine is insured for $60,000 and they were happy to raise it from $40,000 to $60,000. All i had to do was provide photos. But now its under insured again so i think ill be ringing them again.

I had no trouble recently uppping the insured value of my cars. They had a look at one at a car show and the other they saw pics of in a magazine. Biggest hassle was trying to work out a figure for them.

I couldnt get mine insured with Shannons as i had 3 speeding fines in 3 years, the thing was i used to do over 70,000klms a year for work. Tried to explain that to this guy, but he didnt want to listen. "Call me in a year" he reckons, fat chance!!
Suncorp has insured mine for replacement cost.

If they(Suncorp) go by Redbook like everyone else for market value it'll be $21500.Like to see someone replace a Walky for that amount.

Pretty competitive business insurance and yeah I don't think many of them would use anything other than the red book value as you say Oma.

It is suposed to be the cost for me to replace it, taking into account the klms, condition, etc. I got told they look at current prices of what walkies are going for.
A mate smashed his VN SS a few years back and the red book on them was around $7500. The insurance company (suncorp) ended up giving him $12,000 for it as they couldnt find one with the same amount of klms as his for any cheaper. He had his insured for "replacement cost" as well.

dont you feel a little cheated not knowing how much you would get paid out if your car was written off?

Personally, I wouldnt accept anything less than an Agreed Value, that way I know EXACTLY what I am paying my insurance for....

Shannons have been excellent. decided to up insurance today and they just told me to send some photos, so i did and within half hour they got back to me telling me it is now insured for $80,000. They also told me to review it again in november when my renewal date is up and they will increase it again.

I Cant complain with that

if what you say is actually true, then you got a complete retard on the phone... which i highly doubt. I worked for shannons, 3 speeding fines in 3 years is 100% a-ok... maybe 3 losses of license and they would knock you back.

Sounds awesome! Was that the one from the car dealer in Perth owed by a footyball player or similar last year?
