i have just a standard setup, T3 lowmount standard intake with cross-over pipe (no cooler) and easly runs 7 psi on standard ECU and injectors
if this helps ya oh this is still on a N/A engine with no de-comp plate Last edited by woodyotoa; 30-11-09 at 20:03. |

Hate to dig up an old thread, but a few people have asked how much boost is safe to run on an n/a to turbo conversion, but there hasnt really been a definitive answer. I am in the middle of doing this exact conversion, and would like to know, I will be running a Bosch 044 pump, R32 GT-R injectors, a Nistune ECU and a T3/T4 on a S2 motor with no decompression plate, but a turbo head gasket. The motor has done 135,000km also.

The turbo headgasket would proberly be 1mm, so it would drop your compression to something in the high 8's, you can do it, but I would proberly only push something like 10psi, and look into finding the best nistune tuner you can find, to make sure theres no detination as that will be cruicial. If i was you, i would put in a 1.9mm cometic headgasket onto it to drop the compression down more, then you can run more boost, while it being more safter, and knowing the headgasket wont go pop. |

Evening Calaisturbo, once more.
I must admit to a bit of confusion, with regards to the high pressure/low pressure fuel pump setup on the VL. As my car is simply an Executive, with the 3 liter N/A engine, do I need to replace both of these units? or am I able to simply upgrade the high pressure (in tank) with a good brand, high performance pump, and take out the low pressure pump altogether? |

again it is not needed unless more power/boost is going to be your aim a "decompression" plate is not needed for a standard setup |

Hey guys
Personally I wouldn't bother with a decomp plate unless the head gasket itself blows. There is no point pulling it all down for something that might not need doing for a year or even two. If you don't thrash your car everywhere then it should last. As for boost I would say 12 psi would be max but I wouldn't run it daily. I used to run 9psi on low and 12psi on high and I had it for over and year it is has never had any problems As for fuel, the stock pumps are fine for standard, you will no if you need a upgrade. When I was looking at upgrading my fuel system I was just going to get rid of the external fuel pump and stay with the internal and just replace it to a walbro pump. 6boost suggested this to me and said it has enough power to run high performance vehicles with just the single in tank pump[COLOR="Silver"] Last edited by Shaun_VL; 28-06-10 at 18:53. |
