my guess is all of them would all have a designated engine prefix but somebody who actually knows more could be of more help.

guys with walkys help the lad out its a pretty simple straight forward question that could be answered by any of you.

Why bother posting if you dont know the answer? This thread is only one day old, give the guys who own Walkys some time to check and reply

maybe someone (craig!!) should make a thread about identifying a genuine walky, what should be on comp plates, engine prefix, where all the numbers are located ect...

I am in the process of making a page on how to identify a genuine walkinshaw (thanks James!).

VP is the engine prefix for a walky, but this is for 4 bolt mains I believe, and I think that a few other commodores also received this engine (VN group A & I think VP senator???)

The only upgrade option on the VPs was the HSV 180kw. This is going off the VP HSV booklet I have. When I brought my Calais in '93, a HSV upgraded 180kw (with build number), there was never a 200kw option back then, I can contest to that.

Spot on - VK prefix was for VN Group A and leftovers went to VP GTS & VP Clubsport 5000i. I'm trying to find the range of numbers that the VK ran from - I have seen VK599XXX in a GP A right up to VK611XXX in a VP GTS. Does anyone know what the earliest VK prefix is - ie: where did they start from? Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

SV5000 is a red motor and is a 2 bolt block. a few VR 215 Caprice HSVs also had a 4 bolt block along with whats been said (Group As and VP GTS- VP Clubsport 5000i) unsure whether the VP Senator 5000i is a 4 bolt block though. I dont think it was. think it was just a 200kw like the VQ 5000i HSV statesman
