my vl berlina wagon

ok this is my crappy old vl berlina wagon. this photo was not long after i got it. i put some ultra low king springs in it, and throw some ok condition shocks in it(outta my wifes vn wagon). it was a factory na rb30 auto, with around 380,000km on the clock.

so time went on and i drove it slowly fixing annoying problems, like replacing the front bumper and head lights.

so it was just family rig for the last couple years. so the drift and racing bug started nibbling at me again so i put a list/plan together. and started collecting parts for a turbo and manual conversion. so most of the turbo conversion i swapped with a mate for my 350sbc 010 block. i got the manifold
,rb25turbo, turbo injectors, a rb25 ebay hi-flow dump pipe. so i had to modifie
the ass outta the dump pipe to fit in to the vl(rb25 manifolds 90deg differents
than the rb30 manifold). anyway after two weeks of stuffing around with it i got that part sorted. i put a 3inch pacemaker dump pipe thingy to the standard cat. drove it to the exhurst shop. all 3inch now.

so i blow 2 auto transmissions up in a couple months. i got manual in it with a
CI h/d clutch, arp flywheel bolts, put new uni's in it. rear disk brakes on it. yes i put disk brake axel seals and new bearings. sloted rotors front and back, rda gpmax pads, 27mm and 22mm swaybars,
ok this is the resent work in the last couple months, new crane coil, new cas with a modifed dissy, well its a vl dissy with an R31 rotor shaft and rotor button, and cap(yes ive tryed it in another running vl..it works fine). i just got the cooler and piping sorted. its currently set to 9psi but once its running again its going up to 12psi. mechanically its 100%. electicaly not so much. it hasn't started in 6months, no spark, ive replaced the engine loom. anyway this is my wagon. enjoy..ps sry for the crapy photos, my old build photos were lost when my useless iphone died.
cheers dan

Why am I on some type of probation on this site. Is my car not good enough be I don't have a million dollar paint job or something? If I'm not good enough for this site. Then say so! And I'll go elsewhere.

Send a message via MSN to VLWAGONIT
in the vl turbo section it takes a while for a moderator to approve a thread.

but anyway, good too see someone bringing another vl back to life instead of letting it rot.

as for the no spark issue, could be a problem with the new coil or the wiring to it or more likely than not its a dead CAS.

cheers

(Chris.350stato) I know I know. No one likes a bad attitude. Frustiation gets the better of some of us.

The cas is new the wiring is new. I think it something stopping power to the injectors. Eg.efi relay, lil diode I can't find. Something like that..? Cheers dan

Quick update. There is power to my injectors. So I'm over it. When my funds permit, its going to a auto sparky... so for now I'll finish off other problems. My rear strut brace is almost finished. I'm the painting now. I'll post a pic up soon when its done. Cheers dan

OK this my home rear wagon strut brace. Its missing the nut and bolts that bolt the centre bar to the outer mounts but I figure you get the point. Cheers dan

Good job on the brace! With a clean up, the wags will be mint.

have you run the ca on the road with the brace? i like it! I run a brace in the front of my var however theres nothing out there for the rear. plus the cars pretty firm already. so firm it skips across the road :/

Na mate I haven't road tested it yet. I'm going put brace on the front as well. My car don't start yet. Wiring problems. There's a company that the rear braces but I didn't like were they mounted to. I plan to drift it and some circuit as well so I'm just trying to stiff in it up. Cheers Dan.

let me know if it makes any difference. as it doesn't actually mount to the rear suspension mounts just the dust cover i thought that really defeats the purpose and its acting more like a cross brace but its not linking up seperate body pieces so i'm puzzled about whether it'd actually do any good or not. keen to hear your review though.

ahhh sorry yeh its gotta be on the shock mount or at least thats my understanding. projects looking good anyway! check out the vl sedan heavy duty tow setups if you can find one. they have additional bracing in the rear 1/4's which looks the goods.

also do i see a vt master cyl upgrade? good stuff if you are drifting this you will want a serious brake upgrade over standard na gear

I used to have the towbar bracing in the rear 1/4 of my old VH drift pig. I think they were a bt1 option. I got a towbar in the wagon already. Food for thought. Cheers

Its just got the turbo brakes 1inch master and did booster. If it ends up getting more track use than road use, then I'll put the vt gear on it.

hey all.. ok yer i have the old wagon still. heres a bit of a update..
ok the cranecams coil was a dude. so i put stock one back on it. i went through 3 rb25 turbo's. 2 auto's and still running the first na 5-speed(when the manual conversion was done). So i finally brought a new ebay spec turbo(max speeding) slightly bigger(.05 front/.63rear). it got a ebay spec low mount manifold it went about 3 months of driving before it started cracking out. i had a local exhurst shop weld it twice(mig with gas) and i welded it again on boxing day(gasless mig). its got a 30mm swaybar in the front and the 22mm in the rear. i just replaced the factory fuel system with walbro external and dayco internal(i had a 255l walbro in the tank but the filter came off and sucked crap up and fu#ked the pump). I've currently got a mate trying to hunt down a microtec ecu for it. its running 12psi(est 250rwhp, it ran 226rwhp on 12psi on a rb25 turbo). its PB on the 1/4 is 14.447. this is my main car(old one) the other car i brought for a body swap but im having trouble letting the old one die. I've put a recored motor in it now. ive got arp head studs and new factory nissian head gasket sitting there waiting to go in. and a 25mini spool for it. i still havn't drifted it yet. heres some more current photo's

---------- Post added 27-12-14 at 18:48 ----------

there bonding after a wash..lol

---------- Post added 27-12-14 at 18:53 ----------

its first run on the track it was just a charity cruise. i got beaten by everything lol but it was a fun day.

---------- Post added 27-12-14 at 19:00 ----------

just so i didnt explain myself properly. the wagon with the grey bumpers is a new car i brought a couple months ago(rb30na, auto). and the wagon with the color coated bumpers is my old wagon(45deg) which is turbo etc
