Eastern Nationals

So who's gearing up for the "Easter Nats" already?

I know i am, and so are a few mates of mine.. hopefully it will be better than last year... i didnt really think it was that good last year... there just seemed to be too many cars there, with alot of dissapointments.. but anyway.

I'm hoping to have all my mods done just before so i can enter this year.. i jst want to cruise around the track really, but i'll run her down the drag strip to see what time i can get.. ( i dont think sandowns straight is as good for dragging as calder parks )

Anyone putting in thier car this year? Any new mods? Or do you know a mate with a full sick ride to look out for?

Reason i ask so early, i was thinking of camping on the grounds down there with a few mates with thier cars etc.. thought it would be good if a few more people wanted to do the same thing, maybe set up a row of camp sites from people here, have one big row of calaisturbo members and our cars lined up.. make a good photo.. lol.. hey, what about calaisturbo tents? or those camping seats with the stubby holder? lol maybe not.

Cheers.
Tim.

I should have gotten of my arse before and looked.

Easter starts from the 9th of April (Friday) and finishes on the 12th Monday.

Im pretty sure its a four day event but i might be wrong.

Yeah my car wont be ready for a while, im hoping it will be done by the absolute latest of 5th April to give me a few days of road testing.

But yeah, i think the more people the better hey?

Tim.

Sounds sweet guys..

Anyone actually camped there before? I just want to know if they leave the gates open during the night so you can get out, and if there is a police presence there to stop drinking etc etc... coz i wanna drink.

Anyone see the news tonite Dandy council talking about not giving the promoters of Easternat's a permit to run the event.

Due to whingers in the surrounding area complaing about noise and smoke as well as attracting "Hoons".

Looks like the event might not go ahead which would be a shame and encourage more street racers in the local area.

I have been going to easternat's from day one and last year was probably the last one who knows?

As for a website I think it is www.sandownraceway.com.au

well they always complain about ppl drag racing on the street. I can garentuee that if they stop events such as easternats, that there will be a hell of a lot more illegal street drag racing!!!

shouldn't they be trying to get more of these
events happening to get racing off the street?
instead of taking away what little events we
already have

if they bought there house next to a race track,
didnt they figure that it would be used for car events?

Exactly why buy cheap land or house near a zoned racetrack that is used for motorsport and other events.

That's part of the catch that comes with buying in that area, and as if you want to live in that area anyway, what a hole.

Lets hope it can go ahead but it made the news and Herald-Sun so I take it it probably will be post-poned or somehow re-located to somewhere else, Where I have no idea, As Sandown has all the resources to support the event.

A sad day if Easternat's is no more. But yeah money is a good bargaing tool to greedy councillors.

I reckon it will go on...

Jon Davidson (promotor) has support from Victoria Police.

The stupid wankers who just built houses next door don't realise that sandown has been there for over 40 years! ...plus the nats only go for 3 days out of an entire year. *****wits!

I live right next door to Sandown. Noise is not an issue! I wish it was a Formula 1 test track. Wake up in the morning to the sound of F1 cars hooning around. That would be my dream come true...lol

All the authorities continue to complain about people street racing and then they go a try stop evnts like this which I'm sure go a long way to getting poeple of the street.

The article in the Herald Sun also said it the promotors had approval from the road safety and EPA to hold event.

Hopefully the Dandenong council come to there senses.

really? i was watching last year ... on the cruise parts where there was people ripping burnouts in one lane, and people flooring it in the other, i thought that was very dangerous and un-organised ... funny i was just saying to a mate the other day that when we were there it was lucky there was no accidents!

i have some pics from last years to give people some idea wat im talking about ...

for the whole cruise part, the whole of sandown was blinding with burnout smoke, funny but when ya think about it, thats the reason why these people dont want it on!

lol, i remember seeing bits of rubber flying around.

i remember they actually encouraged it. they said burnouts strictly to the begining of the straight tho. was a bit dodge coz there were ****s ripping burnouts down the end of the back straight blocking half the damn track.
