get rid of the steel loops tht hold the roof and pillar lining under the windscreen, thts why all vl gutters rust away, even if you cut out the rust etc now,few years time itll creap back in there, those loops are cancer!!
and im loving the primer over spray on ya wheels bojangles.....ruff!! keep the progress pics coming, good to see!

Hey SIKUTE, interesting comment you make about them steel loops. Have you done this on your car? From memory the loops are embedded into the windscreen sealant. Will that inner seal (for roof lining) stay in place without the loops, or do you need to glue it somehow. I will be putting a VT seal into my car so it would be good to know.

its stitched into your roof lining and piller lining, carefully cut or unstitch any way you can and take away the steel loops which are on there by a plastic trim, try to keep that plastic trim because its the shape of the screen body, then glue lining to steel once you have rust killed steel, lining will look a little streached but it will work with a bit of effort and wont rust out ever again. As for using VT rubber and some people use VK rubber, you dont have to,they are expensive, why ya screen guys puts your new glass in ask him to for a universal rubber,as seen on Mikes wag sikvlt, gets rid of plactic surrounds etc and looks really reaaly clean and mint!also alot cheaper, from memory it was around 20 bucks or so for uni rubber, hate to think what a VT rubber is worth. only trick there is the top of side plastic is held in with a push in clip, once you remove that it leaves a hole in roof that will need to be filled as rubber wont cover it. Hope that makes sence,if you want to check it out look at mikes pics, looks real good.

Cheers for that. Will have a look at my car next weekend. Rust has all been cut out and trim holes filled - I just remember seeing how rusty those steel loops were when I pulled them out. Nasty!
