Hi Pistol, what part of the 5th gear synchro do you need?
The 5th gear synchro is a involved gadget as it works together with a reverse cone to help stop the main cluster gear turning & to stop grating into reverse gear also.
You usually can buy an over haul kit with synchro insert springs for a GQ RB30 Nissan Patrol (same gearbox with different ratio gears) aftermarket, which may help, but they don't have the main brass cones in the kit.
If the box has done a fair bit of work, I wouldn't be surprised it the large upper output shaft bearing (ball race) is on the way out causing trouble in that area of the 5th gear.
Cheers - Leigh

Sorry about double post, I did a preview & it froze went in. Yes good idea to have a look at the bearings when apart. You can feel the end float on the mainshaft (output shaft) if the bearing is gone. To check the counter gear (cluster) the extension housing will have to come off anyway. Its good to follow the shop manual there is a couple of pins to drive out, there is interlock spring & ball that will drop & may get lost, the shifter mechanism is fairly involved. The synchros really only energize when selecting the gear & for downshift, the coupling 5th coupling sleeve & reverse counter gear do the driving & power-flow. Good luck - cheers Leigh
