Can someone explain how the 2 compliance plates work?

Ok so I can't post ATtachments yet but on the vl there are 2 plates one is more the build plate with body number colour engine etc the other is ADR and chassis number which also matches the strut tower. So my question is how do the two plates link together and what would stop someone putting a v8 build plate on a originally 6 cyl body for example? Apart from it being illegal?

The build or body number is stamped on the body.

Your car becomes a federal policing issue, car gets impounded for an undermined amount of time, you get locked up on the spot & until you prove that its all legit and you were just experimenting with a pop rivet gun.

p.s. Don't think out loud.

Think out loud lol! I am asking mainly to double check one of the cars I'm looking at as revs is having trouble with the numbers so where is the body number stamped other than the chassis number on the passenger strut tower? I would like to make sure it's legit and that some clever person hasn't done what I'm sure many have tried in the past
.

chassis number is on the top of lh strut tower plus on the body plate on the firewall

from memory there's a link between all three plates number wise

what exactly is the issue with the PPSR and numbers?

the small tag also identifies what model the car is and what engine it should have etc the car should have btw

post all the numbers up on here that are of concern

Ppsr can't identify the vehicle neither can qld transport I am getting the owner to double check numbers on both the compliance plate and the strut tower but I havnt found a link to the 3 plates and I assume that's why in the past ppl steel plates off cars such as a ss grp a on carsales with no tags but a police number. Anyway numbers I have now are vl8xvx19-333 body number 224458-A
Then the other plate AVL 0213471 the pic is a bit blurry but I have tried the 3 as a 5 and the 1 as an A still no joy, the car is interstate and I have asked for better pics of the plate and strut tower

years ago, the dealership would have record of the plate info.

might be worth posing the question if you are lucky enough to find some one helpful.

The body no 224458-A (some one correct me if I am wrong)the last 6 digits in the Vin number should match this (just another letter at the end)This is the match between Body and Vin.The number you have given as Vin is really your chassis number.Your vin number should have 14 digits and letters total. So I would say the guy stuffed up sending you the details.

Cheers Marty

Yep that's why I asked the question lets assume he buggered up but all that info except engine number is on the build tag and compliance plate so lets assume the strut tower and 3rd tag have a recognizable vin number how the hell do these three plates relate to each other? Maybe this car is dodgy though I guess.

You will need the Broadcast sheet to match up the third plate. But as you say he has done body swap it will never match. At the end of the day you will be getting a SV88 with a non matching body.Yes he has stuffed up the info he has givin you.

Cheers marty
ps if it was me I would buy it.

Actually the one I can't get the numbers to match is the factory v8 Calais in qld, the sv rep tags match the number on strut tower and previous rego papers but as u say had the body swapped

Perhaps may be best to leave that one alone?
Good luck which ever way you go.

Yes I'm not going to chase him anymore, I'm back in talks with sv owner trying to trace its history to at least prove the story. Can't believe he just handed over cash to previous owner without asking for proof if some sought anyway I will let u all know how it ends up, thanks for all your help thus far.
