Can't get a shift kit for Jatco 4 spd!
My NA auto has a 2800 stall Corvette clutch packs and modified valve body, adjustable modulator, some other stuff i can't remember.
But it never let me down when it was standard, just the bands replaced, i flogged the **** out of it!
anyone wanna sell me their unused turbo auto trans. computer?

the lock up torque convert runs through auto na boxes and from the torque of the motor it will buckle meaning either a rebuild or a new box. Just get a turbo auto box. their not very dear for a stock one - around the 300 dollar mark.

if you kept your current box you could just wire up the part of your current computer and wire up the needed bits for the rb20 from its computer.

in jatco boxes they modify the valve body and change spring pressures , i think any way , correct me if i,m wrong. not overly fussed on jatco box but as i have destroyed 3 stock boxes and 1 3000 dollar box so far , but if you don,t get carried away with boost and don,t torture it with heaps of burnouts i reckon it would be pretty happy behind rb20et

cheers

Well i've looked into getting a "shift kit" a couple of times, and everyone i asked said "no can do". What i think they mean is they modify the existing gearbox with stuff that will be compatible. But not available as a "kit". But some one by now has to have put one together. Yeah i had higher pressure springs installed also, thats what it was!

Somehow if your gonna use the VL box you have to get that computer to talk to the RB20 engine computer, or somehow get them to work. Sounds hard to me!

Well if you think about it, the n/a manual rb30 box is the same as an rb20turbo manual box in strength.. then the same should be true for an auto..
If your worried about the lock up clutch disconnect it..

why dont u sell the auto gearbox, youd be in the position to ask maybe a bit less then a wrecker would for the box(without having to wait or what its really worth, which wont be sold so quickly for obvious reasons) and you say you have a 'new' one, im sure a buyer could be found.

re- N/A auto

As far as I have heard from other websites the stall speed in the Rb30 auto is wrong for an RB20DET,as some people have done this and they go like rubbish (too slow off the mark),apparently the torque converter needs changing.
My brother has a good box,a TH700R from a VN we want to sell,it is off a V6 motor but would need a different torque converter to run the RB20DET,but it would be strong enough, the Castlemaine Rodshop sells conversion kits to bolt these boxes behind RB motors.
