HDTWGN VK Wagon Build
Hey Guys,
This is my new daily, sold my jappa wagon for this as soon as i saw it on trade me. Found it as i was looking for vette rims for the VLT, was so tidy and cheap enough i decided to not piss the guy off and try to just buy the wheels ha. done a few bits and pieces in the few months ive had her, was never ment to be a "build" up car but you know how it goes. future plans...hopefully before Power Cruise is to throw a 304 and T5 manual in her, then drive the s..t out of it. Anyway heres a few pics, ill load up some more shortly as ive just put a Group A front on her this morning. Enjoy ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ---------- Post added 11-08-12 at 13:17 ---------- 19" Flares off DOSEIT, on there for now while i get narrower tyres for vette rims as they scrape too much. Group A front bumper, grill, Group 3 scoop. reap bumper fitted with VL HDT LE lower lip. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() let me know what you think guys |

Get rid of the Vet rims as you will end up breaking the wheel studs(not the right fitment)As the studs bend slightly when tightened. You can pick up 15" areos quite cheap.Wagon looks clean and straight.I have to say I like it.Not many like her anymore.
Cheers Marty

feeling the love rite there.
thanks kit kat Katterns. AKA- DK Customs ![]() ---------- Post added 11-08-12 at 19:00 ---------- thanks guys. shes a gem thats for sure. lucky to have a supportive missus that has let me have 2 projects on the go! Injected 304 and T5 Manual going in it shortly Alex. need to sort out a LSD diff still though, quite pricey. As for the vette rims Marty, yea ive heard horror storys of them snapping studs, thats why im running the 19s for now till i get them sorted. Have VK Calais door moulds to go on soon aswell to blend the bumpers in a bit more. ---------- Post added 11-08-12 at 19:04 ---------- Quote:
The plates look good, but the boys in blue didnt think the same, $100 fine and 20 demerit points for painting them. i knew full well when i did it i was going to get fined one day. chance you take eh. ![]() |

What sort of LSD diff do you want run? A Borg Warner or a VK Salisbury or a 9"?
Also do the vet rims sit snug over the centre of the hub? Last edited by NZER; 12-08-12 at 05:42. |

called Steelie bout it and quoted over a grand ![]() is there any other head and splines i could stuff in there? or even just the head? the vette rims fit snug over centre of hub, but as Marty said they do seem to put pressure on studs, can hear them creek as you undo nuts. As i take my son to day care every day in it, im not too keen on one letting go! could try adaptor plates but tyre shops say nah there shouldnt be a problem etc etc |

It was factory astroid silver, someone along the line has resprayed it a light blue/grey, the bumpers ive put on and scoop are primer grey and nearly match lol. It was a doors closed paint job and a quick job, **** masking and no paint inside door jams etc. ---------- Post added 20-08-12 at 19:45 ---------- Quote:
ha you need to get over the red stripes brother, ive got full set of VK calais door moulds to go on then ill redo the stripe again in bright red to match the Red walls going on the 19s ![]() ![]() |

Just trying to talk the old boy to doing them red as he doesnt do many cars he pretty much only does white. Typical old bugger " why do you want to do them red for, whats wrong with just white?" because im the customer and thats what i want maybe...... ![]() |

I tryed to buy the set up off the old guy years ago when i had my paint shop, thought it would be a good feather in the cap to go with paint jobs etc. Thanks for your comment too, the wagon was never ment to be anything special, just a daily girl with a bit of poke and V8 rumble. But i can see it getting out of hand....which isnt a bad thing ![]() ![]() |

Definitely Red Walls! Everyone is feeling the wagon love. Keep those pics coming.
Are you going to build so it looks HDT inside and out?I saw some vk gts seats and door cards for sale on trademe. Very similar to the VK SS trim. Don't know hard it is to strip the sedan rears to fit wagon rears or are they bigger trims?.. I still reckon you should trim the scheel seats and put them in. They are super nice! yea ive been looking at those vk GTS seats, they on my watch list. my interior is early VL and the colour is close to the HDT cloth.
Been talking to mate bout getting the Scheels trimmed to suit the VK with the brock wedge head rests, would look sweet in the wag. ill post some pics of interior on the weekend. Matry- the seats are left and right but you can swap the pins in the sides to colapse the backs from either side if that makes sence. Im a little worried its going to get out of hand as a HDT rep, as its a daily itll be parked up everywhere, id hate to come out and see it gone cause someone will recognise the seats etc. Happens alot up here. Thanks for sharing the love with the wag guys, means alot that other people like it as much as i do. |
