bit of an update on the wagon guys i have recently fitted aero pillar moulds and at first i wasnt a big fan of the way they looked but they have grown on me now i like em. I have just been fixing things that i have been meaning to do for a while like a knocking that i had coming from the front right wheel i was told that it was the bushes on the brake caliper so i bought rebuilt calipers and fitted them but no good the knock is still there im certain its coming from inside the strut so i will be sending it to my mechanic to be get fixed asap. i also fixed an exhaust leak that i had at the manifold and got a 3" stainless exhaust fitted which im very happy with was ment to be going to hi tech dyno today to get tuned on 12psi BUT i thought that i would change the plugs before it got tuned because i havent changed em for a while. So last night i changed the plugs and go to start the car it idled fine for a few seconds then begins to make a knocking sound so i quickly turned the car off and inspected everything i had done to make sure i hadnt forgot something or hoping nothing fell into the motor while a plug was out but im certain noting fell in there. I couldnt work out what it was so my mech came over and checked it out and told me it sounds like the valve is staying shut so the lifter could have decided to **** it self so i have pulled all the lifters out and have them soaking in fuel and ill try them and see what happens. If cleaning the lifters doesnt help ill do a compression test Im hoping the piston hasnt hit the valve and bent it.

cheers
matt

also for anyone looking at getting any exhaust work done i highly recommend AAA exhaust on deacon avenue richmond they did an awsome job on mine at a great price.

not good mate but your motor should be fine, pretty sure that the pistons cant actually hit the valves on rb30's they miss. let us know how you go with the lifters though man. i have one that decides to play up from time to time its more of a real loud tap than knock though.

You'd be better off pulling the lifters apart and cleaning them properly. It's not hard, just fiddley and RB30's are non-interference as -pumba- said, the pistons can't hit the valves.

sweet good to hear i have pulled the lifters apart and let them soak in fuel. but i need a torque wrench to put em back on. one of the valves looks as if its sitting lower than the rest and the rocker had a bit of play so im guessing thats what the noise was. how would i go about unsticking the valve if its stuck????

cheers guys
matt

well the valve wasn't stuck i put all the lifters back in but it didn't fix anything. My mech aka Greg came around to have a look but he couldn't figure out what the noise was did a compression test and everything was fine so its going to hi tech on Monday so John can have a look and Greg can get a second opinion. and maybe pull the head off if they cant figure it out. hopefully ill have it back soon.

i found out what the problem was a small stone fell into the cylinder when i removed a spark plug. luckily when i got towed to hi tech the first time they started the car the stone managed to come out and all they had to do was remove the turbo and dump pipe and it fell out. haha. they said everything seems to be fine so while it was all off i rebuilt the turbo my self with a ebay kit it was actually really easy and the turbo has no shaft play at all now. i also got braided water lines to go on when it all got put back on it its going on the dyno on Monday as well as getting a new CAS as the one that is in there is playing up at high revs.

since my last update i have done a few things such as aero pillar moulds, polished rad cover and 3" stainless steel exhaust and ive also reconditioned my lifters which also wasnt that hard just fiddly but now i have no lifter tick at all on start up.

ill get some pics and hopefully a vid of it on the dyno so ill post em up monday.

cheers
matt

pretty certain its the ECU they replaced it and it ran fine so they sent mine off to be checked out and to get a quote for it to be fixed. but i reckon it will cost heaps to be fixed so im looking for another one.

well it was the ecu that was stuffed they wanted $500 change over so i have one in there that im borrowing of my mech till i find another one. it goes really good now its all tuned and running well it made 180ish rwkw john didn't print me off a dyno graph but said it was all really good. i picked up 2 mechanical auto meter gauges of ebay oil press and boost for $107 pretty happy with that but gotta hook up the oil press still. does anyone know where i can get the hose for the oil press and where i should plumb it in to??
