thanks man... my gear boot comes with the mounting brackets off the ve too.. (reason for buying it) am goin to actually change the shape of the console so its no longer square more rounded to suit it.

i got rained off from work today so got some work done .. started making some dress up plates for the boot install... using 3mm aliminium

they still need more sanding then polishing but should come up ok.

i'm using them in the boot..... got a idea but unsure of if it will work so have to make some bits to see (hopefully not wasting my time)

if it does work however watch this space

aww thats no good, but congrats on 340rwhp.

ive always been curious about this but someone please correct me if im wrong but why do people dyno there car as soon as its running? since you are spozed to run you car in before you put it under any stress, so how is flooring it on a dyno any diff than doin it on the road?

my Q is would it be alot safer to just run it in on low psi and then dyno and tune after its all ran in nicely?

motor was already run in on standard setup before car was stripped...

also car has new computer, turbo, larger injectors plenum blah blah so driving it around on the base map that comes on the computer is asking for trouble.

a head gasket is much better than cracked or smashed pistons.

thanks im very happy with the 340 especially when i think that i put in every nut and bolt and built the exhaust and piping myself makes it that much better

hey guys with christmas coming up.. regos due on my other 2 cars blah blah got no funds to sort the head out yet so carrying on with the audio system for the time being.

finished off polishing the dress plates and mounting them

got my 6 farad soundstream cap... have decided to hide this though.. will be unable to flush mount it cause it will cause hell for getting glass panel in and out of the car.

but have pulled it apart and found that i can remove the voltmeter and ampmeter and might flush these into my centre console along with the soundstream badge

gonna go here

also have my soundstream distribution block and also have to pull this apart and mount the guts to the floor and flush the case by itself in the panel for the same reason

gonna have to extend these ribbon harnesses for the shell though

sorry if im posting to many pics just getting excited bout this system now
will post some more when i make some REAL progress

Have been watching your car for ages, and have only just registered here on the forum.

you have the wheels on your vl, that I have wanted on mine for ages... lucky you :P

I am gonna do the boot on my VL very soon, before the new year hopefully, but I dunno how it will go lol...

hey all spent the entire day getting some more woodwork done for the boot install

first i made the trim mould for the front flush panel

the back of it is beveled for better transition when fibreglassed
also added a full lenght spine to it for extra strength for glassing

mounted blocks on flush panel to locate mould

this is where it sits... top of panel needs to be curved to suit boot top and will finish it hopefully tomorrow

next i made one of the trim panels for flushing the amps

bevelled this front and back and added another spine to it... this is how it fits on the amp... still have to make another one for the other amp

hope you guys like it

good to see your digging in there and getting this thing finished at every opportunity, audio setup looks great its coming together nicely. 5 years in the build i say you deserve to have this beast on the road, will be a great reward for all your hard effort and hours/years put into it. will be a 5 star head turner mate this will be one of those cars that people talk about for years to come, so keep knuckling down and get it out there on the road after that its just a matter of a new lick of paint and your sweet.. cant wait to check this out in the flesh, leaves a big enough impression just reading about it on this forum. good luck again and keep up with the original idea's.

no probs mate, its easy to tell your a dedicated person with nothing less than perfection in mind.. and thats wat it takes to build a real car.. also the fact you do it yourself lol.. instead of bragging about the car you never built. now.. back in the garage!
