Torque converter stuffed?

recently ive noticed a little bit less punch when giving the gas a kick when in 4th gear, and RPMs seem to be 200-500 higher than usual. Is the lockup clutch in the torque converter to blame, and if so how do i go about fixing it?

Im doing nearly 80kms a day to work round trip so the extra bit of economy wouldnt hurt.

The way to tell if your torque converter is hammered is to drive with the button out and it should drive normally. Then push the button on, so you overdrive locks up, if the car shutters this would mean your overdrive is hammered.

i think the box is a little rooted also, sometimes get shuddering on heavy acceleration.

I did notice 2 or 3 times a very apparent shuddering/vibrating noise once or twice and yeah after that it seemed to be hanging in first up to 3k when cold (and im talking when im just cruising out of the carpark at work, not hard acceleration).

how much is a new box worth?
.
