I can't understand as to why you'd throw 20K at the motor only then to sell it...?

People do that all the time - Look at how many VLTs go up for sale after having fully big $ rebuilds

Hmmm true, never done that myself so I probably shouldn't comment. You'd be better off selling the car and putting that money into something you really want if you're already in two minds about whether you want to keep the car you're modifying wouldn't you?

Yeah I totally agree... big waste of money

I guess people don't always know when they will need the money, and something like that is usually first to go when you need to free up some cash. Funny thing is he would have got more for the car if he kept that $20k in the bank and left the car factory
