Finally... My Turbo Conversion

Ok guys after a loooonng wait, I'm about to start on my turbo conversion, in the next few weeks.
My list of goodies so far;
Proboost t04z .70 front, .86 rear, high mount manifold, 875cc injectors, fmic, forward facing plenum (el throttle body attached), A8 motor rebuilt to standard spec, mx7 box, manual pedal box, vx Monaro disks & calipers, vs booster, vt master cyl etc, msd 6al ignition and coil, LSD center, malpassi rising rate regulator.

Still need; 14mm fuel rail, 28 spline axles, hub adaptors for the Monaro disks, ecu(?), no holes inter cooler piping, blow off valve, waste gate (what size?), fuel pumps.

Ok, so a couple of questions, what ecu should I run (was thinking a wolf 3dv4 with hand controller)? I know I should have forged pistons in there, but the standard ones will have to do for now, but maybe at least some acl race rings and bearings? (I won't be running huge boost just yet).
What cam should I use for it? Should I get the standard cam reground to something better? Will the standard oil pump do the job? Do I need to get get double or single heavy duty valve springs, or will the standard ones cope under lower boost levels?
Please feel free to help me out with some advice! I'm sure I will have a tonne of questions as the build goes on. I will post pics when I can.
Cheers.

standard motor is fine mate , plenty of guys make 300+ with them

cam , i found tx2 was awesome , jpc do them for 240 change over ... and just get a set of crow cam double valve springs which are around 150

as for ECU , ive had motec and that was the bees knees , but im running a microtech lt10s now and had one in my old BT1 and it was fine , no issues

Awesome, thanks heaps for the tips. I have a set of arp head studs on the way, and i might just put some acl race rings and bearings in it for now, and start saving for some forgies. Roughly how much do engine builders charge to put in the double valve springs, and do the correct height adjustments, seat tensions etc, (I just don't wanna get screwed over price-wise up here in hillbilly country)!

Should I use a decompression head gasket with that size turbo, or wait till I really get bitten by the power bug, and get one when I start using more boost?

Anyone got JPC's number please?

If you can tune it to a comfortable power level without pinging on high-comp, then off boost cruising is good, otherwise to be on the safe side use a decomp gasket. Mine is a hi-comp motor with everything turbo related bolted on, all factory with a fmic and have not had issues with pinging.

Havent heard of people using decompression gaskets for a while now. It would depend on how much boost your planning to run. Say for 300kw somewhere between 17-20psi? I noticed you said your running a a8 which is a turbo bottom end, therefore you will have low enough compression as is with the standard nissan headgasket.

Ah ok, I'll do a compression test, and see where it's at, thanks ekul..

Ok, ARP head studs arrived yesterday, thanks again Brendan!

Bout to order cam package from JPC, it includes a tx2 cam (exchange) double valve springs, and rocker boxes to suit (also exchange) $526.

Sooo many bits and pieces, loving it!

---------- Post added 07-09-12 at 04:33 ----------

Ordered!

With the mods I've listed above, can anyone take a reasonable guess at a power figure, and recommend a clutch kit for that kind of power, please?!
Cheers in advance..

If your cashed up nothing beats a Jim Berry clutch.( http://www.yellowpages.com.au/qld/st...5-listing.html) But if funds are abit limp you can allways go for a Excedy. Been running a Excedy clutch for awhile. The only down sides is that once it heats up it likes to slip.(http://clutchfinder.exedy.com.au/)
