two things tho, i was under the impression 1 you should mount the converters flat and 2 they should be within 30cm of the throttle body? obviously not mandatory i guess

what 2jz?
![]() |
they are advised to be flat, thats true, i guess there must be a bit of leeway? lol
and i think the distance from converter to t/b is to reduce the chance of flow interuption and also to help with starting/priming and throttle response n what not. on my old VK i had a converter mounted verticly and had at least a metre from converter to t/b and never had a problem... but obviously youd want to do it by the book in a high performance setup.

If they are vertical in the GRA the mixtures will wander a bit. In a "conventional" setup it is usually preferable for the converter to be vertical and in the direction of travel. One thing to watch for in the GRA setup is the dreaded full throttle stay open thing, they weren't designed for blow through and hence the throttle is not offset to try and force it shut under boost.

the top two setups are from rage racing in WA. they are doing a lot of development work with lpg injection at the moment and an ecu to control it. They also have a s4 13BT rx7 running a similar setup.

It has 140rwkw on 10psi and 750 newtons at the wheels.
Trans has a kit and a 3000 high stall and runs low 13s with 18s on nankang 40 series rubber. Just a single B2 convertor, soon to be 2 and with around 16psi so it should see around 200+ at the wheels and with slicks dip into the 11s. EDIT : It ran low 13s on petrol with 180rwkws before it was rebuilt. Probably high 13s to low 14s as it is now. Last edited by GASRB6; 19-01-08 at 15:13. |

2nd gear was used on the dyno.
It runs a front mount. I don't have a copy of the mixtures but he did mention he thought the convertor was maxed out. The balance line was plumbed wrong and the cap that was supposed to be fitted over the button on top of the convertor has been left off. If this is fitted it should flow a bit more. Im waiting till i get the second convertor to wind up the boost, just to be on the safe side. As it is, it cruises really well and is the same cost to run as my 4 cylinder daily.
