Vl sv88 5.0l

Hi guys,
I'm after your opinions, I'm looking for a vl preferably factory v8 Calais for a project and I came across a beautiful spotless sv88 replica. Story goes original was written off and everything was transplanted unfortunately into a body with 3.0 l tags . This thing has no rust everything works its been stored for years, under the car has been prepped and painted at some stage , extractors and 3" exhaust . New tranny with chrome sump 1000 ks ago. Leather sv88 seats, hdt steering wheel and the engine has signs of being apart in the past but it sounds sweet as. So my problem is I would buy this in a second if not for numbers at around 9k but the whole numbers issue worries me, my other choice is a white factory high comp 5l in white needs a little work but looks pretty good at around 5k. I am doing the project to make a few dollars on the side, what's everyone's thoughts on my situation? Any help is appreciated .

Scott

Mate if that one checks out OK it would be my pick.I don't think it is too bad for the money. What would it cost to build one like that?More than 12k I recon.

Cheers Marty

I guess my question is more about re sale as I'm looking to re sell in 6 to 12 months time around summer nats so if its been so hard to sell it must be due to the numbers issue I assume ?

Way over priced i feel. 9K would want to be imaculate!!!
I just picked up an 86 sl with new paint and an injected 5.0l for 4g.

keep looking and look outside of your local area. Was a clean v8 calais in vic last week for $3800 on car sales.

4G for a conversion is an exception to the rule when it costs 4G to convert one.
10G for a Mint VL Calais 5.0 is ok as long as its reasonable kay and has extras like tweaked motor cause the stocker was a slug waiting to breathe.
That car has a walky wheel worth 800 and the rest of the SV stuff is hard to get, I think its close to the mark, but walky rims would complete it.

There abouts, electricians aren't cheap, maybe more when you decide you wanna T5 or T700.
There ares stories of LS1 conversions being up around 10G

Good work, cheap compared to walking into an engineering shop and asking for engine swap, gearbox, lightened flywheel, fuel tank, tailshaft, LSD and pedal box.

What about at $8500 or is that still too much for a replica? I was reading in sv88 roll call about ppl doing replicas and it got me thinking about it again, otherwise my other option is a matching numbers 10/86 vl Calais no rego either but $4800 with Walky wheels but needs tlc and small rust repairs around plenum and windscreen

A good carby motor is still desirable and being VL you get the unleaded heads, simplicity and plethora of mods available, if HDT reckon they can get 180kw from a port match and cam then go for it.
