They have abit of go in them these Ford XR6T's... Was driving along yeserday and one (Which i thought was a standard XR6) tried to do the sneaky and cut infront of me where the road went from 2 lanes to 1... He didnt have enough room and had to slot in behind me, but as soon as we hit the highway all i heard was something spooling up beside me and he nailed off pretty hard!

yep, and they need a stink load more power to get them moving into reeeeeal quick times... such as this one apparantely reported has 662rwkw? put that into a cortina and it's another world...
BUT as nizpro have showed, they can definitely make the power

Xr6ts are way better cars than vls , the only reason i have a vl is because you can go fast for little money, dont you realise that most people with stockish vls wish they could afford a new car?

Do you realise that a guy with an xr6t could buy 5 vl turbos if he wanted to, but he doesnt.

In 20 years time i think the xr6t will have a similar amount of fame as the vlt does now.

If 2 cars pull up at the lights, one being a 600kw vl turbo will immaculate paint and body work, and the other being a stock xr6t, guess what, 99% would pick the xr6t as the best car. Of course the vl would be more fun to drive, but thats only one aspect of a cars overall worth.

its personal preference.

i couldve bought a decent XR6T if i wanted... but i want something that'll be an abosolute *******child to drive on the road and is genuinely faaarken fast.

mind you... i wouldnt mind a daily thats soft to drive, feels newish, isnt a boat, and is quick - i guess that rules out the most fords including the XR6T :P

bahaha

also, speaking of prices, my mates dealership picked up a XR6T ute this week for $13k (had NO RESERVE, was a stolen and recovered from AUCTIONS), only things missing were seats and some other little bits and pieces, it still ran normally etc. can u say profit?

heres a nice example of a beefed up 4.0ltr turbo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUWCo3lDjH8

as well as great KW output dont forget the massive torque these things can produce, in stock form a typhoon churns out 550NM of twist as opposed to the 5.4 boss' 520NM. I'd much rather an XR6T over a VL turb the VL's are quick but obviously have the light weight advantage over the Ford. Ford might have a 4.0l but have a hefty 1750 odd Kg to overcome. Plus as mentioned they make great torque which i love. BTW out of interest anyone know what the quickest VL turbo was in say 1992? Reason I ask is people are getting 9's out of the XR6t and that about 6 years old now, wonder how quick they will get in a few years time

Bloody fast time hey? XR6Ts haul ass.

I would love a XR6T, but it's pretty unfair on the VL to be compared to it.

XR6Ts are 20 years younger, have alot more technology and are alot more refined. Of course you would expect this out of a newish car though.

Which is the better car? Personal preference, but you would expect the XR6T to be for all of the above reasons. It's not a fair comparison, because we're talking about two cars with about 2 decades of R & D between them.

oh dear god that clip is crazy! and at 6700rpm.. what turbo is that btw? its fk'n quite the high pitched sonofab*tch, gotta love engine dyno vids when they have a turbo or 2 and that manifold holysh*T the whole thing goes bright as.

and also that yellow XR6T looks tuff with a set of drag wheels on

Very true all im saying is the VL has had lots more R&D with all its components compared to the R&D the XR6T has had to all its components. Any hows with boostn hitting 7's im sure the XR6T developers still have alot of catch up to do, it will be interesting to see

By me saying that the XR6 Turbo will be the next VL, I wasn't comparing the two, as both have their advantage's and disadvantage's.

What I'm saying by that is, once XR6 Turbo's get into that "cheaper" price bracket, they'll possibly be the most popular modified car on the road, because they offer all the characteristic's that make VL's popular, such as a four door sedan that can be made to move quick with realistic money, and can be made to look nearly totally invisible once modified.

Theres no doubt about it.. theres heaps of kids around my area already driving BA XR6's now... Because there only 12-14k now, kids are getting there P's wanting something fairly modern, abit of power and something they can drive under the new P plater laws... No doubt in 5-10yrs time you will see kids hanging out on the hwy in there XR6T's or at your local fast food joint...

Are u for real ?? I get more looks than most new cars. Definatly a stock XR6T
From the outside there pretty boring looking. So are VLCTs in standard trim but a calais with a mega cooler, guages, candy paint slammed etc be the lesser of 2 cars ?? mmm
We done quite a few of these at HPF. I remember fitting the de-fillipo exhaust to a few. Great product off the shelf !! Some of them are really fast. Some of them are just crap to We done a kit, stage 3, was rods pistons, plenum, injectors, valve springs + tune. Around about the 370 - 400 rwkw. Mind you $30k !!
was a little bit more involved but you get the point.

You're also comparing a stock car compared to one thats had $50,000+ pumped into it... youd be stupid not to think the VL would get more attention.

Depends what you are after though. Alot of people these days want a nice comfy quick car that can be driven to work every day... hello XR6.

All comes down to personal preference though.
