t5 gearbox into vl

hey guys, done a search but didnt really find what i was looking for,im putting a 304 and a t5 into a vl and need help with the clutch set up.all of the gear is coming out of a vr ss.

ok questions are:

will the vr ss manual pedal box fit into the vl with no mods?

Do i have to drill a hole in the firewall for the clutch cable?

Or is it possible to convert the box to hydraulic clutch?

another option would also to be just swap the clutch pedel over so the cable can fit onto the top,but i still have to bring the cable through the firewall somehow?what has everyone done?

thanks

I dont know, but I would say its fairly unlikely that the VR pedal box would even go close to fitting. I would have thought that going down the line of looking into converting the clutch to hydraulic would be the best bet, and just fitting a manula pedal box from a vl into the car.

il get some tomorow, only problem is that the clutch is a pull type and hydraulyc is a push,so their might not be enough clutch line to allow the slave to sit futher back.but i might be able to make it work, will have a look tomorow

---------- Post added 30-01-11 at 21:56 ----------

and also any one no what to do with the spedo cable as their is an electronic senson in there at the momoet, will the vl spedo drive fit in there?and will i need the spedo sensor, does the ecu need this?

Nah mine was a VT Getrag, not T5. And I'm probably not much help because I didn't install it myself. I know mine used a VL pedal box though

ok sorry for my stupidness but ,does this let me git rid of the clutch fork all together, and i just get a new master cylinder and i run 2 new hydraulyc lines to the unit with the fittings on it and the unit extends out and pushes on the fingers like norman, insted of the fork pushing the bearing aginst the fingers this unit is just like a hydraulic ram that pushes aginst the fingers and you just adjust the black base to whatever you want it/

---------- Post added 31-01-11 at 10:56 ----------

how much was this unit/amd did you have to buy a new master?

have new master and slave on the pedal. Its an izusu truck slave, commercial costs way less. The bearing spins on a linear bearing over the input shaft and the middle acts on the pressure plate. Ve commodores are the same, just to name one.
There is no fork or mechanical parts like that, just 1 input hose and the other side is a bleed to get the pressure, no return. I will take some pics if youre interested, will dig reciepts as well, from memory the bearing was 300 nz from tilton and then the slave, but it allows your pedal height to be set an anything, to acutate the clutch i need about 2-4cms on the pedal.
Can even bring the car to you on a sunny day. or come and have a look.

ok cheers for the info man,iv done some measurements and calculations today and i think i can get away with using the vl slave on a custom bracket,so il let you know how i go,iv emailed cardwells for the price.are you runninng a t5?my clutch release bearing needs about 14mm to activate the clutch and the vl slave gives 15mm at the piston.the release bearing on the vl only moves 6mm to activate the clutch.
