Air Con Setup?

Hello Ladies/Gents,

After having installed my inj 304 in the calais (vl) and the good weather coming up, its time to install the air con.
Is there much work involved? Can I use the existing canister and lines? I think from memory there will be one line that will need to be redone? I currently have the aircon pump installed, the vl cannister still there and one of the lines that goes to it hooked up..

You have the condensor (looks like a small radiator (in front of your actual one), rehydrator (cannister that sits next to the condensor, aux fan (in front of the condensor), compressor (bolted to the motor, with a belt), and the line that run into the firewall.

You need to make sure the compressor works, has new o-rings throughout the system, it's gassed with the right gas, and that the temperature is adjusted correctly Under the dash, VERY hard to reach).

Am I right in assuming you have a 5L compressor?

You will need a new reciever drier but most of the other lines will do.The only problem ther would be if your are using a different compressor from the vl's original one.If your using one of a vn onwards they mount in a different spot so the hoses to it may not fit.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at.

Since you're retrofitting/re-installing the system, apart from the new rehydrator (receiver/dryder), you'll need frsh oil in the compressor to suit whichever gas you put in it (be it R22 or R134A).
