Andy's vl calais build

This is my maranello vl that i have be working on for around 7 months now. It has been a working progress an i have done a number of minor modifications to the car to get it into better condition.
I also have plans to get the turbo build eventually when i have sufficient funds but am currently driving the stock rb30 with exhaust mods. I want to make a hybrid rb25/30det engine with the twin cam head.

Modifications done so far:
3 inch super low king springs
After market steering wheel
2.5 inch exhaust
2x sony xplod 12' subs
head unit
17' vx ss rims
calais front an rear style
gauges
pod filter

Here is the car with the standard front and rims i had on my first car.

Here is my interior before i had put the gauges in

Here is the car as it is at the present, with the new calais front and the gauges put in.

Next i have plans for a much louder exhaust and a number of minor interior modifications to be done before the turbo setup is started. Tell me what you guys think .

Hey all, im kinda in a pickle with my car, im not so sure what i should do to my car next. I can do much to the engine bay yet but when i do it will be a stroked 355 with twin throttle body injection (decided that over turbo). so in the mean time, besides fixing up the mouldings, any ideas???

355 twin throts beginnings

an update on the build, the car was taken off the road about 5 weeks ago in order to begin a proper build an has begun to be stripped in order to get ready for a full respray in red pearl two tone. An inside out respray will be carried out, and the whole car will be retrimmed.

front and rear bars

interior

tailshaft disconnected

motor out

stripping the bay

A six point cage is coming this week, so ill get some shots of it when its in the car.

Should show some interesting updates soon.

hey guys, i kno im goin to get the whole "thread from the dead bs" from some guys lol. but yeah its been a long time since ive posted on this thread as the car hadnt progressed for a long time due to study commitments and work.

There was also a long period that I didnt post much on the thread but have lots of photos to show of the car. Ill try an show a few of the work that was carried out. However, ive recently reignited my passion for the car an am working hard towards getting it painted. Basically, ive put so much effort into it now that its pretty much turned into a full blown show car with everything smoothed (engine bay, all welds and seams etc).

Im currently doing a few little things just before getting the car painted to make it stand out from the usual vl mods that people do. Those mods will be kept a secret for the moment until later hehe!

Ill keep the thread updated every few weeks as the car is progressing quite fast so ill keep the photos running... cheers guys

ok so its been quite a while since ive posted on this thread. Its been a long paintstaking process with progress on an off the car, but im still going to finish the car i wanted to build all those years ago lol.

Im now in the process of test fitting up the new block so i can finish remodelling the bonnet (moulding steel hump into it), as im going to have ITB injection on it for some different looks. So ill get some photos up tonight of the motor thats goin to go in it

YEP this is still the same car project from all these years and im still commited lol!!

Here is some progress of the car. Im hoping to have the car done in approximately a years time.. prob wont happen but one can always dream lol. Going with a sunkist orange over silver tone as i wanted a moderately different look to how it was before.

As the cars now going to be a full blown show car, here are the photos of the undercarriage being painted before to after on the day... Painted in two-pack and came out beautiful.

looks so lush in the flesh

Sanding and priming diff atm an hopefully painting this weekend. Then put back on its wheels and building suspension once bay is painted..

some more update pics from the weekend. sorry about the quality but you get the idea..

Bay shot looks really dull but was just a crap photo i was in a rush to get to work lol It came up as nice as the underneath (see above pic)

reason why its not all painted is because the undercarriage / bay needed to stay on the rotisary. The rest can be done on its wheels and im now going to focus on building the suspension and diff setup and getting the rest painted later.

diff ready for paint. Took fair bit of time scraping old paint and degreaser, but has come up a treat. pulled out old springs and arms from the garage today so aiming for some paint on the diff this week then i can dummy assemble it in the car for the short term along with the front end so it can be moved around.

Will finally be back on its wheels again lol
