NZER's Walky Rep Build

Hey guys,

I decided that I would start buying and gathering bits to transform a VL into a Walkinshaw. I was going to build a VK Group A Rep but my heart lies with Walkinshaw and I couldn't get the thought of owning one out of my head. I would love to buy the real deal. I'm going to stick with the original Panorama Silver and Body Kit.
Anyway here it what I have collected so far.

V8 Front Brake Callipers

V8 Master Cylinder

Walkinshaw V8 Dash Cluster
Waiting for my Sis to send it over from Perth. Will take a pic.

V8 Manual Pedal Box

V8 Engine Crossmember

VL Diff housing with VN V8 Diff centre and Shortened VN V8 28 Spline Axles (untill I find some VL 28 Splines)

Walkinshaw 16" Wheels
Needs some tidying up but got them for a bargain.

I have a couple of cars to look at. Trying to stick with a Calais or a Royale. The New Zealand Royale has most of the Calais options but drums in the rear.
I'm also hoping to find some original Walkinshaw Interior, Twin Throttle Bodies, Steering Wheel, Gear Stick Surround and Gear Knob. See how the budget allows.
I will try to keep updating as I get parts.
If anyone has parts or know of any please make contact with me.

Goodluck with the build Mate

Just incase you wernt aware, the Master Cylinder you have is V8 however your booster is only a single diaphram where the V8 booster has a double diaphram.

Thanks for that Mate. I thought the V8 one had that crimp ring around it. I will get onto the guy I bought it off.

Have you considered saving to buy a genuine car? By the time you build up a decent replica you would have spent almost the same money, and at the end of it your car won't be worth half what you put into it

Definitely considered it. If I sold my F150 Harley I would source one. But the way the market is at the moment I don't mind building something and I'm pretty good on the tools. I can do everything apart from paint and interior but I'm sure I could fit a couple of seats and door cards. Lol. I miss tinkering around in the shed. I guess you never know what could happen.
I guess with a rep I wouldn't feel as guilty if I skidded the **** out of it, as I would if I had real one.

Big props to you with your rep. Awesome achievement. What are playing around with now?

Yeah if you're doing it for fun then building is the only way. I enjoyed creating something from nothing, probably a lot more than I would have from just buying one. But if anyone asks if I'm getting another VL it will have to be a genuine Walky this time round because I can't be farked going through it all again

Thanks man, I'm not doing anything with cars at the moment

hey mate sounds like a great project. good luck with the o.g. interior they pop up every now and again but if you hang out a bit you will probably get another hsv interior cheaper. my vn sv seats (same bolsetring as walky) set me back 450 and for the privce of a walky interior and fixing up any defects you could just get another walky style seat from another hsv and get it all freshly trimmed with new carpet and doorcards etc.

as for the gearshift surround you can buy them on ebay repro they occasionally pop up.

are you going for 100% mock up aka same interior / options etc? i'd look for a grey interiored calais as it will provide most of the electrics and dash parts you will need making swapping a few select bits rather than everything in much cheaper. you might even make some $ back on selling excess calais parts

no other advice i can think of right now but best of luck. sounds like a great project

Contact HDT they make a complete kit for the gear lever surround. Plastic surround, rubber boot, spacers and sticker (reflecting gear positions). Bought one for my Walky a few years back. Pretty quick postage too.

**********FLASH BACK*********

I haven’t been able to access this site for a long time. Wish it was still used as much as it was.
It all started in 2011 and late last year it finally hit the road.
It was featured in the NZV8 Magazine, issue 195.

I don’t know how to add photos anymore or what is a good app to use with the iPhone???

I set up a Instagram page for it to help keep track as I’ve lost so many photos over the years.

Check it out if you haven’t.
Cheers Ben

Great to see you back here.
I've found a website (free version) to upload your photos to and it creates various links for you to use and one of the links is a link for forums just like this CT website. 'Use the hotlink for forums option and copy and paste the link into your forum message and when you post the forum message your photo will appear also'.

I use - Postimages website at https://postimages.org/
and it keeps the images indefinately so basically they won't drop off of web forums like alot of previous image websites did. These other image websites that people had used over the years on this CT forum are now not allowing any of the photos to be hosted anymore and that is why all of a sudden lots of pictures have gone missing from these CT forums.
